fog light switch wiring

id like to use my fog lights as daytime running lights without the park lights being on.anyone know if i could unhook or cut a wire at the foglight switch to make this happen?

Canadian cars had the BCM programmed to use the fog lights as DRLs. No cutting required.

You can do this like the factory did by programming the BCM.

You basically tell the BCM it is a Canadian export car.

Have to do a search on the value change needed.

Wow! McReatta was way ahead of me. I remembered seeing the "diagnostic booklet" a long time ago but forgot where I had seen it. Thank you! I printed out a copy to put with my manuals for the Reatta.

Original discussion was much closer to the start of the century however the Mc-Reatta post in 2012 appear to be right. It just involves using the built in diagnostics to change a code in the BCM (BCM Override option #1/ BD 90. Beliave Canada (DRL) is code 48 and USA (no DRL) is 144. Most detailed is page 8D14 in the 88 FSM but does not mention 48/Canada. Is easy to retrieve if you get it rong.
