Blue90
Canadian cars had the BCM programmed to use the fog lights as DRLs. No cutting required.
Guest Mc_Reatta
You can do this like the factory did by programming the BCM.You basically tell the BCM it is a Canadian export car. Have to do a search on the value change needed. Start reading from page 14 of this link to get the concept:http://reattaowner.com/roj/component/content/article/57-diagnostic-information/diagnostic-instructions/56-diagnostics-instructions-page-
fordrodsteven
I found this. It might help.[see January 20, 2012 thread by Bushwack on disabling/abling DRLs.]Wow! McReatta was way ahead of me. I remembered seeing the "diagnostic booklet" a long time ago but forgot where I had seen it. Thank you! I printed out a copy to put with my manuals for the Reatta. Edited January 11, 2015 by fordrodsteven Thank you McReatta (see edit history)

fordrodsteven
Take a look at this:http://forums.aaca.org/showthread.php?t=320491&highlight=disable+drl
padgett
Original discussion was much closer to the start of the century however the Mc-Reatta post in 2012 appear to be right. It just involves using the built in diagnostics to change a code in the BCM (BCM Override option #1/ BD 90. Beliave Canada (DRL) is code 48 and USA (no DRL) is 144. Most detailed is page 8D14 in the 88 FSM but does not mention 48/Canada. Is easy to retrieve if you get it rong.
