keiser31
I see a fracture in the second photo on the outer edge which means it is probably good for show only.

Richard Lichtfel
This cap is rare and the originals go for several hundreds of dollars. However, they are being reproduced but still not cheap.
Larry Schramm
The ornament is a Peerless automobile about 1928 and called the Peerless Eagle. Here is a link for a reproduction made by The American Arrow Co in Clawson, Mi. They do top shelf work and then some. Here is a link to the current item. http://www.americanarrowcorp.com/html/product_details.php?nav_id=4&cat_id=1&product_id=52&
jeff_a
Monsieur Roucan,Thank you for the 3 photos. There is a Peerless Motor Car Club member who saw 2 of these for sale on ebay a few years ago. One was in perfect condition for $350, and the other was in only fair condition for less than $100. He immediately bought the one at the buy-it-now price of $350, knowing the other one might need $100-200 for restoration and re-plating(that one was bid up to $400+, a foolish price for one in poor condition, by comparison). Someone had another one for sale about 2 months ago on ebay. It was in poor condition. Bidding started at $25 and it went up to $72 I think.Mister Schramm,Thank you for the link to the reproduction radiator mascot. I have not seen one of those before. Do you know what material they are cast from?----Jeff
Larry Schramm
Jeff,They are made from stainless steel. Here is a link that talks about the process that is used to make them.http://www.americanarrowcorp.com/html/content_page.php?content_id=21&nav_id=3&Larry
