Barely glowing AMP light?

Just noticed last night while driving that my AMP light is glowing ever slow slightly (with an occasional flicker). Haven't noticed any other issues with the car. Coincidentally, I just bought a refurbished clock on eBay (which runs great, thankfully) and am wondering if there is a connection. Thoughts and advice welcome...

Well, whatever is going on, it does seem to be more than just a funny light. After a few jaunts around town, the car barely turned over. I've got the battery on a trickle charger and am hoping that, with this and my stalling issue (described elsewhere) my mechanic can fit me in this week. The good news is that it's not my new clock; I disconnected it and fired up the car, and the light still glowed at the same minimal intensity.

Just how old is that battery? - may not be the problem, but it's definetly not getting a sufficient charge.

The flickering light would indicate a problem in the electrical charging circuit, and is not 'new clock' related.

Good advice from Jim and Tom !!
