Juha Paavo Kaita
We visited local museum in Sauvo, a place close to Turku. One lady had few photos of cars from 1920´s. Cars that her father used to own. One car was Durant she told. Could this photo show a Durant from mid 1920´s?Best wishesJuha KaitanenTurku
Guest PIKESPEAKING
LOOKS LIKE A 1929 CHANDLER
nzcarnerd
Because it has the more conventional hood louvres I reckon more likely a 1926 or 1927 Chandler. Looks big enough it might be a Big 6 (124" wb).
DLynskey
Definitely too large to be a Durant. How about 1926-27 Chrysler Imperial?Don.
nzcarnerd
Not Chrysler; wrong shaped headlights, wrong shape profile of windshield pillar, different visor brackets and no hood flutes.
nzcarnerd
Also I don't think the Imperial used the fake landau irons that the Chandler did.
Juha Paavo Kaita
Hi!Thank you for good remarks so far. It can well be Cahndler. We had quite a few Chandler cars in use here in Finland at that time. I think Imperial was mucj rarer. I shall forward this information to the owner of the phoito and see if she can remembers something about this car, still.
30sclassics
1928 Oakland Landau Sedan
nzcarnerd
Not an Oakland; the cowl lights are in the wrong place, the Oakland is on skinny 20" tyres whereas this car looks to be on fatter 18s and the Oakland only has five hub bolts whereas this car has seven. nzcarnerd
The Okalnd also has vertical windshield pillars where as this car has them shaped. The 'hinge' of the landau iron is high on the oakland and low on this car.
Guest PIKESPEAKING
REAR HUB CAP IS 29 CHANDLER. CAN'T TELL IF IT SAYS SIX OR EIGHT. SOME THINGS DON'T LOOK 29 CHANDLER, HEADLIGHTS AND COWL LIGHTS, BUT THE CAP DOES.
