Paul Falabella
Let me ask this. Are the radio and power antenna leads supposed wired to the light switch, allowing both to be operated without the ignition on?This not the case on my car and I wish to return the the wiring back to original. Thanks

ThanksYes, that is way all of my 55's are wired and agrees with the wiring schematic.
Paul Falabella
That's what the schematic and the shop manual says but it just didn't seem right, thanks.
bhambulldog
The radio is wired to play with the ignition switch off as well. But that does NOT mean it is okay to crank the car with the radio playing.....

Too many times to count I have turned the radio down, but forgot to turn it off when I parked...Willie
Paul Falabella
Just dawned on me. The radio and power antenna can operate without the ignition on but the power seat will not work without key! Go figure!
Guest Pletch
How available is the vibrator and is this a good item to replace first if a radio isnt working? My radio does have a quiet hum when I turn it on but there is not static or sound from the speaker.

Guest Pletch
Most places I found want to charge $400.00 plus to do what you had done. I was hoping to try a "common" failed item with the hope that it would fix it.
