Guest pbob42
Feel like a real fool. How do you get this oil plug out? Looks like a big torx bolt. Little help for a newbee. Thanks

nickelroadster
Why? You should feel just a teensy bit smarter as you learned something and did not break anything in doing that. Good luck with the rest of the car.
rocketraider
There is a special tool made for that drain plug, but as Dave H says, a 1/2" square drive ratchet will remove it easy enough. My experience has been use the ratchet only without an extension- seems extensions always slipped in the recess for me where the ratchet won't.You're not the first to ask about it either, and won't be the last. Over on ClassicOldsmobile.com, on average every three or four months someone asks how to remove it.

starfireelvis
A friend of mine found a package of six of those at the swap meet at the OCA Show in Cincinnati in 2003; we split the cost, and I have three of them. One I gave to my mechanic whenever he performs the oil change on either my Starfire or my wagon.
