ghaskett
'56 Century 322 with power brakes. Previous owner installed electric fuel pump. 2 stage mechanical pump no longer needed. QUESTION: Will the manifold pressure... alone... be enough to work the brakes properly? Manifold "T" fitting would be removed for a right angle fitting, though I could just block off one end. I don't need the "T" since I have electric wiper motor. Thanks,George Union, WA

PONTIAC1953
as bob said "yup", the vacuum diaphram pump was never there for the benefit of the power brakes, only to help with vacuum pressure for the original trico vacuum wiper motor. the vacuum lines for the wipers and the vacuum lines for the power brakes were two completely separate systems, only connecting to the intake manifold vacuum for the source of vacuum. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
