If you've looked at early 50's Mopars...

......You've seen many of this type Air/Temp control. My question is: Why does my unit have "ON" to the left? Where others I've seen; "ON" is to the right. Part # on main body of my unit is 1440215.

Was there a model difference? Did factory shift gears? Thank you for your help. Jim.

Yours from a "For Export" vehicle?

Thank you, but I'm not sure "For export" is ans. If someone has a pre 1953 Mopar parts book, could they look up control base #1440215 to explain what models have defroster "ON" indicator left of knob ? eBay has a couple p/n #1253406 bases w/Defroster "ON" to right of knob.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I think I solved my question; 49-50 Plymouths show defroster "ON" indicator to the right. A 52 Plymouth on ebay shows defroster "ON" to the left as on my piece. The factory went out of their way & changed the casting for some reason, maybe done by a committee?? (I heard they were set in their ways during those years?)
