Help me figure out this 23rd Series Packard

OK, we have this car in inventory, and I thought I had it right identifying it as a 1948 Custom (title says '48). However, I've received more than one E-mail from folks pointing out that it's either a late 1949 or an early 1950 Super. So I'm at a loss. I saw a Super at Hershey, and it seemed smaller than this, especially in the hood, where it seemed shorter. It's hard to know for sure, so I'm asking you guys to help me out.

One, how many lines were there in the 23rd series? Two with a 327 and two with a 356, right? What were their denotations?

I know that the eggcrate grille on this one means it's a large series car, but it does not have the trim that wraps around the trunk opening. What does that indicate?

I've attached photos of the car and of the body tags. It's possible that the larger plate is a repro, but I think the numbers for color and trim are just worn away, not missing entirely. The body tag with the exact same numbers on it is surely original. What other positive identifiers are there?

Can anyone conclusively identify this car so I can present it properly? What engine does it have, what series is it, what wheelbase?

Body tag number: 2379-2128

Engine number: H400918

Thanks in advance!

4 general model lines. Standard & Deluxe with 288, Super with 327 and Custom with 356. Various trim levels within the model lines can affect those. 2379 indicates a "Super 8 Deluxe Convertible Victoria" would be Packards designation.

H40xxxx indicates the 327 and is at the beginning of the 1949 year start of production for 23rd series. Late 49s & into 1950 production would start H41xxxx. The oval tail lights in the pods are also an indicator of 23rd series. 1948 thru the 1949 22nd series cars had flat lights mounted in the body.

Excellent. Thank you everyone! I didn't realize there was also a 288 cubic inch engine, that's probably what confused me.

I will be calling it a 1949 Super 8 Deluxe convertible victoria with a 327 cubic inch engine.

Thanks!

Basically in the 23rd series they did a Super Eight version with some Senior look trim. That's it. Looks like Egyptian Sand is the color
