Guest 46BuickSuper
My 46 Buick Super (straight 8 w/ single Carter carb) emits a black sprew from the exhaust. I believe this means it is running too rich. I know the mixture can be adjusted on the carb if indeed that is the issue. I look forward to your responses. Many thanks! Joseph P. Indusi
Possibly the choke is stuck closed or nearly closed or the idle mixture needle valves need adjusting. You are correct in that black smoke is usually due to overy rich mixture.Joe, BCA 33493l
Ben Bruce aka First Born
46' as JP says, the most likely is the choke. Also have seen this happen if the air cleaner is too dirty. Ben
NTX5467
And "the spew" could be the condensate in the exhaust system until it all gets up "to temperature"?(Sounds like some television talk shows . . .)Just some thoughts,NTX5467
