Yes, Russell lives a couple hours north of me and use to have a shop in the bay area, then moved up to grass valley near truckee, CA. He has a yahoo group for nailheaders as well as selling nailhead parts out of his shop and on line. He has helped me many times and is a good source.

I was going to order all my parts from him to rebuild my 264 but he does not respond to emails very well and relies on verbals, which I hate. He is very nice and offers to help in the rebuild. I know my engine rebuilder did order his rebuild book. After reading this, I just sent an email to cancel my Kanter order for $2700.. they had it on hold due us not know the oversize for the pistons and rings. This order did add a oil and water pump. After reconsidering after reading this article on Russ Martin I think his knowledge is worth the verbal risk. Since I am not that experienced, verbals make me nervous. I did see Russ Martin noted in some post back in this forum back in 2005. So, I am convinced I should work with him so, my mechanic can call him as needed on the rebuild. I know I am over thinking this, but I seem to always come out better over thinking. I really think I sent my transmission to the right guy in Jim Hughes, as the Dynaflow is all that he will work on.

Thank you for this info, I have tons of family in the Grass Valley area, and my '54 with the 322 will be here very soon. Glad I found this forum!

been a lot of discussion about rebuilding 264/322's lately, thought this magazine article may be of interest. Nailhead article starts on page 22

Thanks Mr Earl.

I really enjoyed that part about the Nailheads and I learned some new stuff too...

Thanks David, I tried again to do business with Russell and when I called a few minutes ago, someone maybe Russell said "Can you hold for a minute" well this has happened more than once and after about 5 minutes I gave up. Then he is very slow to answer email and sometimes not at all. Since I am not a a true mechanic and my knowledge regarding talking engine language it makes it hard on me to do business with such a situation. I am OK if I could get a itemized list via email of what I would be buying and not a quick verbal on the phone. A person always would want to know what he is buying, that is not asking too much. I tried! So, I guess I will go back to Kanter's

Bill, Russ is a very busy guy. But trust me, it would be worth your time to wait on his return to the phone line, once you have his attention and good clear questions to discuss with him he is generally more than willing to give you the time needed to help you. I suggest however that in needed, you let your mechanic himself call and discuss any questions about the rebuild of your Nailhead.

My name is Randall and I am in need of a 401 nailhead. I was told to get in contact with Russ. Does anyone have his number? Mine is 310 651-0912 if you would rather pass mine along to him. Either way I would be very grateful. Thank you for your time sir.

I have dealt with Russ and he's been very helpful and extremely knowledgeable.

I had a mix-up on one of my orders; I got my parts as well as another customer's parts. I offered to forward them to the proper person and Russ took care of the cost.

My suggestion is to be patient and let him know that you're looking for his help in understanding exactly what is needed to complete the work you're doing.

Tom Telesco is another Nailhead guru.

I've never dealt with Tom, but I understand he has developed roller rockers and other cool products for Nailheads.

I found this contact information:

Tom Telesco Classic and Muscle Automotive

12 Cook St. Norwalk, CT 06853-1601. Day Phone 203-324-6045
