Guest Jim Piro
THE TEMPS ON MY CRT WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE SO I CHANGED OUT THE STAT WITH A NEW 195. TEMPS STILL WANDER. IS IT THE TEMP SENSOR? I ADDED A BOTTLE OF ANTI CORRISION STUFF FROM B&G BEFORE ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. ANY CLUES?
Rawja
Define wander. In stock form the car tends to run hot in stop and go. Temps in excess of 230 are "normal". I personally don't like see temps that high so I Installed a "Padgett PROM" which takes a more aggressive stance about controlling coolant temperature. Temps are rarely go over 200 now, even in AZ heat.
Barney Eaton
Jim ....good to hear you are still working on your ReattaThe temp and oil sending units can give fluctuating reading, usually just before they completely fail. You can try unplugging and repluging the connection to see if that helps, otherwise you are probably going to need a new sending unit.
Guest Jim Piro
Where is the sending unit?
harry yarnell
You didn't say what year you have. The '90-92's should read at 12 o'clock; maybe a tick more in hot weather. The '88-89's, you can watch the temps in actual temps, climb, but somewhere around 213° the fans kick in, and the temps start to drop.
