Scraping noise from engine - cam magnet?

My 88 Reatta with 48k has been fine but had this slight scrape sound when cold. Drove the car last night to a few errands and on when back in the garage starting hearing a metal scraping noise with engine RPM.

The belt is fine. Nothing is wobbling or leaking. It sounds like it's coming from the harmonic balancer pulley. So is this a sign the cam magnet is about to fail?? :(

Really?!?! At only 48k?!! So unfair! It's not wobbling or leaking or anything like that and started making this noise practically overnight. So it's the cam magnet in there making that noise?

Assuming you have a 1988-90 model... Hardest part is getting the bolt out. 1991 is different. The balancer has nothing to do with the cam magnet.

If the magnet was missing you would be getting a ECM code 041. Magnet is not likely to make a noise.

They are not really made of rubber. The balancer is made in two parts. The outer part with the pulley and the inner hub. The rubber is a dampening material that bonds the two metal parts together. The rubber deteriorates with age no matter how low the miles on the car.
