starfireelvis
...found a nice, correct set of NOS seat belts on eBay that I would like to put in my wagon, the interior of which is fawn or light tan. These belts appear to be a light green, likely faded somewhat after 40-50 years, but still look green enough to tell a difference between the color it is and the color I need.Has anyone reading this dyed seat belts before, or even if not, could provide some tips, do's and don'ts regarding this? Would a product like Rit be suitable for doing this? I know well enough that whatever I use as a basin to dye it in will likely stain, and also am figuring that perhaps the longer the belt is left in the dye, perhaps the darker color it will become? Any tips here would be appreciated! Thanks,Mike
joe_padavano
YOU bought those, Mike? Heck, I was watching them for my 1962 F-85 wagon with green interior... (Actually, I already have aftermarket green belts installed)
rocketraider
Mike, I have always been taught that bleaching or dyeing seat belt webbing compromises its strength. Is it possible to have them rewebbed in a correct color webbing and keep the Oldsmobile buckle?
