Guest 88atta
If you really need a BCM for your 1988 the part no. you should be looking for is:1227333 or remanufactured part no. 88999218; also applicable to 86-88 Riviera. The 1989-90 use part no. 1228786 or remanufactured part no. 88999224. Edited October 6, 2011 by 88atta (see edit history)
Guest Mc_Reatta
Thought you said only the dome light was coming on by magic, not also the foot well and door lights. Did this turn out not to be the case?BCM turns all the lights on at the same time, can't just turn the dome light (or any other light) on by itself.Having a spare BCM is not a terrible idea, but may not solve your problem.Have you thought about having an exorcism performed?

Barney Eaton
Is the carpet wet under the passanger seat? There is a history of corrosion at splices under the seat that have had repeated moisture.
Guest patriciabeth
LMAO.......exorcism! It feels that way for sure. I am going for the BCM replacement. $12 shipping $55 for the part from Jim.What a deal!
harry yarnell
I don't think splices are the problem. Bad splices usually manifest themselves as NO lights.
padgett
Sounds more like either a frayed wire shorting to ground in the door (staying on for about 2 minutes is the clue) but possibly a confused BCM.What are BD90, BO03 and BO04 with the doors shut please ?
