Machinist_Bill
According to my VIN on my 1926 Coupe it was built the first week of March, 1926. It has the type "B" engine and 6 volt system. I am missing all the gauges and ignition switch. My question is when did they switch to the white face gauges? (Johns-Manville?) I see some 1927 models with white and my 1926 sedan model 126 has the dark face (Northeast). Which would I be looking for? :confused:Thanks Guys!Bill Edited August 25, 2011 by Machinist_Bill (see edit history)
Machinist_Bill
Ok, it looks like I can answer my own question. The all white face with no brand markings came out in 1927 from Northeast. The Miles models are 3874, 4730, and 4738. The KM Models are 3875, 4731, 4735, and 4739. My Coupe from the 1st week of March 1926 looks like the Northeast model 3850 used from 1922 through and including 1926. Can I assume this is correct?Bill
Texacola
My 1927 series (Sept 1926 build) has the original NE model 3850 (black face).Bill
Machinist_Bill
That's still ok. This information I have comes from a Northeast bulletin dated January 1927. It is possible the change began in January. In the bulletin it is stated that the 3850 was used "1922 to date". I'm guessing 1922 to January 1927. Now we need someone who has a 1927 series with a build date of January or February to confirm this!Bill
Ron Lawson
The "to date" means that DB were still using speedo 3850 When that bulletin was published It seems that they were used up untill the whie faced guages were introduced
