macc Posted April 19, 2011 Share Posted April 19, 2011 DOes the A/C system operate seperatly from the heating system or do these two work together? The reason why I ask is I'd like to get my A/C system up and running for this summer if I can. Here in California I dont have much need for a heater and seeing how much of a pain in the butt it is to swap out the heater core I was hopeing they worked independent of eachother. CTX-SLPR Posted April 20, 2011 Share Posted April 20, 2011 The early stuff has a diverter flap that sends the air either through the heater or the evaporator core. The heater blows either out the defroster or the floor, the AC/vent only through the vents in the dash. The Hot/Cold control only controls how much the water valve is open unless you have it on AC then I think there is a switch in the slider that kicks on the AC only in full "cold".
