Adambravo
Just bought a '63 with the standard 401 My mechanic thinks I have the 'wrong' air cleaner, but the only visible difference I see between what I have (see attached image) and the brochure is the decal; the brochure shows it says Riviera Wildcat, while mine reads Riviera Wildcat 445.Thoughts/clarifications? Thanks in advance...Adam
Guest jonly
looks right to me, your mechanic may be thrown off by the 445, which is a torque rating for the 401 ci.
TexRiv_63
That is definitely the correct air cleaner for the 401 Riviera.
RivNut
The smudge on the snorkle is where a second decal goes. It's only found on the '63. It's a round silver/black decal with the head of a wildcat on it. Here's a link to CARS that shows the decal.Old Buick Parts - CARS. Inc.Check the breather opening where it sits on the carb. There should be a flange on it that aligns it properly. The snorkle should go between the radiator hose and the power steering pump.Ed Edited November 23, 2010 by RivNut (see edit history)
