Is "Continental" embossed, or just screen printed on top?

Yes, it's cast into the glass, and yes, it's new to me. I am the third owner. I plan on showing it as a 50,000 mile survivor. Already have several Concours invitations.

I recieved a picture of a black car called an Ace and manufactured by Continental Motors. My friend snapped the picture 3 weeks ago in Ocindo, Calif. I had never heard of this Model car before and now a picture of a second one shows up. I wonder how many were produced and even how many still exist. Sorry but I was not able to upload my photo in this message.

The Beacon was the 4-cylinder model while the Flyer was a 6-cylinder and the Ace was the DeLuxe model.

There is a lot of misinformation about the cars out there. Some say they were made from leftover DeVaux cars. This is not true as the DeVaux was a sheet-metal body over a wood buck with conventionally hinged doors while the Continentals were all steel bodies made by Hayes and had suicide doors on all models.

They are very rare, as the metal drives of WWII sent most of them to the scrap yards as they were virtually worthless by the time WWII came along.

There are only 4 Continentals in the registry. Mine will make 5.

You may have to look into making a lens. I've seen kits that make it quite practical to make a rare lens like this, and the new plastics are very real looking.

Two suggestions, either cast one as suggested by West; related article I wrote earlier this year is at:

or find a similar lens and make a stencil (using artwork laser cut into sheet metal) and sandblast Continental into it.

Thanks, good idea! Sandblast I can do. I can use vinyl or metal tape as a resist.

When the car gets here I may see if the lenses on the car can be blasted and I'll keep my original for safekeeping. I'll take you up on your offer if that doesn't work out.
