1955 Fender trim length? 52" or 47"

hi there

car: 1955 Buick Special 2 door hardtop

I've been piecing together a trim set and was surprized to see i had 2 different lengths for my fender spears (naturally a 52 1/2" driver and a 47" passenger)

any insight into this?

here are the good driver quality pieces i have:

driver side fender 52"

passenger side fender 47"

passenger door 48"

driver door 48"

i am looking for:

driver side fender 47"

or

passenger side fender 52"

also i need clean small arcs 22.5" - each side

I think your 52 inch spear may be for a Super or Roadmaster. My 55 Roadmaster front fender spears measure 52 inches. Hope this helps. Larry Minery

logically I agree - however - the 52" came off the car as well

My 55 Century 66R Two dr. Hardtop spears are 52 1/2" Both sides. I believe the car is all original.

The 55 parts books list the same spear for all models. All of the spears on my 3 Centurys and the 2 parts cars are 52.5". In fact the most forward mounting hole in the fender is just 2" from the front of the spear, which would have a 5.5" shorter spear exposing the hole. I have no idea where that 47" spear came from: 54?, very early 55? I don't have any usable extras.

I bought an entire trim set for my car (it was said to be off of a 55)

it came w/ (2) 47" sections one for each side - one is damaged

i was worried it wouldn't fit - now you confirmed it
