Dave Henneman
I have just come across a Delco starter with patent dates of AUG 17,1915 and FEB 8, 1916. It has the following numbers:1. Housing: 248 28162. Snout: 339733. Mounting base: 433973I have looked it over and I think it is either NOS or very fresh. It has a base type mount instead of a flange type. Any help on Identifying this would be very much appreciated.Regards from Colorado,Dave Hennemanjmhenneman@frontier.net
Dave Henneman
The more I look through all of my old books, the more I begin to wonder if the starter is from the early 20's (based on the shape of the body), but I'm still wondering. Anyone have an antique Delco catalog? Thanks again.Dave
Richard Lichtfel
This starter looks and mounts very similar to the Peerless starter 1917 - 1921 V-8 series ll thru series V V-8. Except Peerless used Grey Davis and Auto-lite starters then.
Layden B
Delco 248 1922-24 Peerless model 66Not a big surprise that it looks like the earlier Gray& Davis and Auto-lite units.
