Guest 49oldsfan
Can anyone tell me what type of transmission fluid I should use in the Hydra-Matic transmissions? I have a 1949 Olds 88 and also a 1956 Olds 88. Both have Hydra-Matics. Also what type brake fluid should I use? Thanks,Barron

d2_willys
I saw another thread that suggests NAPA Dexron fluid. Originally it took type A, which with a little luck you can still find being produced. I have seen it at truck stop convenience stores in my travel. bill pritchett
See the article below. It states that the ATFs are all backwards compatible to the beginning.http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/article/Automatic_transmission_fluid/
