Bruce_C
I have a 1928 pontiac, and the wood is in mostly good condition, but some needs repair/replacement and the body needs to be shimmed correctly. (I think it needs to be shimmed so the doors close correctly)Does anyone know of a book that discusses the correct procedures ?thanksBruce
Guest
"FISHER BODY SERVICE MANUAL" 1926-1931 The book that anyone with a Fisher bodied vehicle needs. Check on ebay. They come up often. You can often get one for under $25.00. I have an original with all 112 pages, a reprint of the 28 page supplement for 1932 and a reprint of the whole manual including the supplement. It is very interesting to follow the correct procedure for shimming doors and eliminating squeeks. Usually it is the exact opposite of what you would think. Guest VeloMan
The magazine "Skinned Knuckles" reprinted this manual in several issues. You can order them as well.Phil

Friartuck
Bruce,I experienced a similar problem with a 1930 Sedan. The problem was the shims rotted out the wood at that specific location. The rest of the body frame rail was fine. This link is to an article I wrote on this type of repair if it applies to you.http://www.monmouth.com/~friartuck/lincoln/restoration_tips/restoration_tips.htmlChris

keiser31
If you like, I can copy the book for you for the cost of printing and shipping. They will not be two sided pages, but they should work for you. My email address is keiser31@charter.net
