carbking
Since this thread is in Dodge, will assume you have a 1929 Dodge truck. The 4 cylinder engine used a Carter - these are extremely scarce. The 6 cylinder engine used a Stromberg TX-2 - originals are unobtainable in useable condition (pot metal is cracked beyond repair).Replacement units of different quality/price are available.Jon. wenthur
you are right it is a Dodge Brothers fuel truck with a 4 cylinder engine. it has a carter carb, that is all frozen up inside, I am now soaking it solvent for a week while I what for the rebuild kit. I am sure with patience and a few well chosen words it is rebuild able. Thanks for the info.
wenthur
Got the rebuild kit last night and the carb. has been soaking for a week now. there is one plunger{accelerator??} that is stuck. and if I cant get it out I will try heat. Any problems with a small torch on the Carb?
carbking
The torch would be OK for either bronze or cast iron IF ALL OF THE ZINC ALLOW IS OUT OF THE CARB!. Do not use the torch on a zinc alloy (pot metal) part.Jon.
gboy
I have a 28 victory 6 which has a model A carburator, it came with it and runs very well. I also have a grahamb brothers that someone had put a model A carb on, once the fuel mixture was ajusted, I left it alone, seems to run pretty good. Has anyone else used these carbs, at least their not hard to come by?
