Yellow & Black Plug Wires

Hi,

I'll try this over here in Pre-War. What years were Yellow & Black plug wires used? I cannot seem to find that info anywhere.

Cloth wound wires were used for many years on many different applications. On the assembly line I would venture to guess they used whatever was available when it came to something like this. Dave!

I have yellow & black cloth covered wires on my 13 model 31 Buick, but my 15 model C25 came with black rubber covered wires.

Maybe when the starter/generator came out in 1914 they went to black wires?

Restoration Supply Company sells a very nice yellow (they call it 'oak') with black/red tracers ignition wire in bulk form. Really looks great. Has a copper multi strand core.

They also carry a large variety of terminal ends and boots to meet any need.

No idea what's correct but this stuff sure beats boring old black. Comes in the larger/older style diameter too.

Well the same yellow/black wire coverings are on all the 6 volt wiring that runs through my 47 Roadmaster although most are bundled and covered with a black casing. Either black or yellow/black plug wires would look appropriate, but I wanted it to be correct. (I hate to go to a car show and have some "Buick expert" make me feel like an idiot.)

The judging standards that I've seen aren't particularly helpful.
