Richie66
I chucked my 5th, shock in the vise to see how much play was in it, it seems to be locked up. I took a cheater pipe and I couldn't make it go up or down, is there a place you can send this for a rebuild---------Richie
DennyZ
Richie, it might be cheaper to replace it. Is it longer than the "regular" shocks on the rear? Which model does it go on?

Clipper47
Richie, The fifth shock is just a small shock welded on the end of a hollow tube. Five Points and others cut the old shock off and weld on a new one. The new shock is not exactly the same as the old one dimension wise but close. I suppose you could it yourself locally if you could find a source for the small shock absorber.
Joe Block
Thanks for the reference shop and the information. I would think almost any modern shock could be made to work, and anyone tried using gas charge shock on their Packard in the rear where tube shock are available.
