1940's Headlight assy anyone?

A wild guess would be, that it's a sealed-beam conversion kit for something from the late 1930's. Before the sealed beams became universal, cars in the late 30's had ''sculptured'' headlight lenses that blended into the fender lines. This would have replaced one of those.

The 39 Studebaker Commander & President also had a similar style headlight. Since the 40 Commander & President were almost identical to the 39s, Studebaker used a similar sealed bean headlight trim for the 40.

Pictures below is a 39 (this is actually a Coupe Express, but the front clip is identical to the Commander) and a 40 President.

I'm looking at a colored picture of a 1940 Mercury Town Sedan.

It is Chrome the shape looks the same. also pictured next to it is a 1940 Ford DeLuxe Convertible coupe, they look the same at first but the Mercury looks larger on the side near the top

Took another look think it's the Ford. Not a DeLuxe i would guess, yours has paint
