  17. rivirob, heres one for you;i have a 65 rivi gs 425 c.i. with the dual carb setup all original.on the primary carb, close to the top of the air horn is a vacuum hose.it does not appear to be the hose that connects to the heat riser tube.i say this because the heat riser tube goes directly from the choke thermostatic coil housing to the passenger side exhaust manifold and ends there. the manifold has no holes from previous penetrations that may have been for the return heat riser tube.the hose is about 6"-8" long, has a "T" fitting in the middle with the 3RD or long leg of the "T"capped off.it looks very much like a factory installed hose.the end of the hose is flared from having been connected to something.i've looked everywhere but have not been able to find where this hose connects.thank you much.ARNULFO ROA#11862
  18. ed, just to make sure i understand what you are saying, the steel heat riser tube goes from the carb thermostatic coil housing THROUGH the passenger side exhaust manifold, connects to a rubber hose (which is my mystery hose) and ends in the air horn of the carb. on my car, the heat riser tube goes directly from the thermostatic coil housing to the passenger side exhaust manifold and ends there.i felt around the manifold to see if there was a hole ,weld , or piece of tubing protruding from it but there was nothing.this hose is about 6"- 8" long with a plastic "T" fitting spliced into the middle of it with the 3rd leg of the "T" capped off with what appears to be a factory plug.i know it was connected somewhere because the end of the hose if flared bigger than the rest of the hose from being connected to something.ARNULFO
  19. i have what appeares to be a vacuum hose coming off the primary carburater on the secondary throttle side. its near the top of the carb.i looked everywhere in the factory manual but could not find it. i dont know where it connects coming off the carb.im thinking it has to connect to something that comes into play when the secondaries open.i thought maybe a vacuum operated kick down on the tranny in addition to the electrcally operated one, but could not find anything in the manual that shows it .anyone got any idea where this mystery hose goes?the carbs are the original carters. GRACIAS, ARNULFO ROA#11682
  20. jim, thanks for the advice, but what i'm looking for is parts to rebuild my sending unit .there has to be a source for these parts, otherwise all these shops that rebuild them would not be able to do so.i doubt that they scavenge used parts.i think the part that usuaaly goes out on these units is the resistor and contact arm.i wonder if these rebuild shops rewind new resistive wire and make their own contact arm? arnulfo
  21. does anyone know where to get parts or a kit to rebuild fuel sending units? i want to try to rebuild mine myself .i have a 1965 rivi gs with air conditioning. gracias arnulfo roa#11682
  22. whats the deal with the courtesy light on the rear of the console on the 65 rivi's? there's no way to turn it off. no matter what position you put the switch in it stays on.i took the light off and found that the switch does not break contact no matter what position jts in.seems like a design flaw.anyone else have this problem?is there a remedy that still allows use of the switch? arnulfo roa#11682
  23. has anyone ever done any repairs on plastic interior parts specifically the upper mounting tabs on the console of a 1965 rivi. there are many products on the market for doing this.its a first for me,any help with brands to use or avoid or technical advice would be appreciated. gracias, arnulfo roa#11682
