Are you trying to reuse the old pistons? Modern aluminum pistons would probably have just a little more clearance and would probably work a litle better.

There has got to be some kind of contamination on the aluminum. I also think that the aluminum should have been prepped. The POR -15 folks have a clear that is made to be used in places like this. I used some on cast aluminum running board about twelve or thirteen years ago and it worked fine and is till there and looking good.

I would check your generator and cutout. If you can put a fresh battery in and it starts and runs fine it sounds like the battery is not getting charged.

Mr. Gelinas,
Are all those photos yours? You have some very nice and interesting pictures.

I think you got 1 S&H stamp for every ten cents you spent. That means you spent $120 per book. 807 x $120 =$96840 spent to get a Ford econoline. Then you could start saving again for the Falcon Wagon. About that time you died.

You have to admit that it took some skill to put up that arrangement.

Many years ago I washed cars at a Dodge Chrysler dealership. No more. I just kind of squirt them down before going on a tour. It surprises me that a lot of you folks don't like to wash cars and you are car people. A lot of times on tours when they give out prizes it is some kind of wax or car washing materials. I never seem to use them.

It is like we are being forced to "borrow" money that is being presented as "manna" from heaven.

Check with Restoration Supply in Escondido CA. I believe that they recently got it back in stock.

This forum has helped me spend a lot of money that I probably would not have otherwise spent. It is also a lot of fun.

Wow!
Even ten to fifteen year old cars cost about a hundred. My son's 2007 Honda Civic cost that much. Wonder if they still will charge that much when the cars get to ten or fifteen years old.

Are you sure that it wasn't just a missing fold down armrest?

I think I would avoid the urine-thane type of paint.

It is not a flat six. You could call it a flat head six.

My early Oldsmobiles (1915-1916) have Corcoran lights. The rear tail lamps actually reads "Buick".

If anybody ever asks you about paint cracking, you can surely show them. That car has several coats of pretty thick paint! It actually looks pretty cool.

Suzuki X-6 hustlers had six speed trannys in 1966.

I don't think cmomon sense was all that common even in the days of yore. When working on the really old cars you often times run into "vintage" repairs. Some of them are strange but highly thoughtful and others can be rather jaw droppingly stupid. It is best to never be surprised at anything anybody does for a repair.

I don't know if they are still around but I got one drag link gaiter from Imcado Manufacturing in Umatilla Florida.
Applying Clear-Coat to Polished Aluminum

An update on a clear for aluminum. The POR-15 product is called Glisten pc. It can be brushed or sprayed. You just need to be sure that the surface has been thoroughly degreased and cleaned with something like acetone. The product has to have a hardener but is easy to use.
