Almost all prewar cars that were designed to appeal to the better folks were fancier in the back than the front. these checker cabs seem to be mirroring that idea.

I will bet that you could be pretty good at fabricating old car parts if you wanted!

I am sure that there arre a lot of people on this sight that would love to see some pictures of your models. We never get too many pictures.

I bet he could do a wheelie pretty easily. It does not look like correct weight distribution.

I believe that all three are trucks.

The harder the parts are to find, the bigger the challenge and the bigger the feeling of accomplishment when they are found or made. I wouldn't know what to do with a car that was easy to find parts for.

Those fenders look kind of homemade. Maybe the old ones got tore up.
-
It is possible that clutch parts were used on other makes. I would certainly look and ask around to find this out. It might help if you were to provide pictures and measurements of what is needed.

Usually best to use lacquer on something like this. Easy to remove where you don't want it.

A comment on Wayne's comment.
"Period images" is kind of a different type of post that has multiple authors. Ed's "White post" is mostly controlled and authored by him. Different category. What we do need are more of each kind of post. The more the better.

Merry Christmas to you too Ed.
The white is getting better all the time. I would recommend to anyone that it is well worth it to drive down and see it. Hope you have an enjoyable White Christmas! At least for you 2020 was not a complete waste of time.

I don't think that the White engineers were in the habit of using spreadsheets.

Over and over we get reminded that the engineers paid not the slightest attention to anyone in accounting. They just did what they bloody well felt like!

He might give you $75 and then want to sell it for $32000

No problem Ed,
We all know the struggles you have had working outside in the inclement weather .

Ed,
Be very careful about using setscrews to hold the water pump impeller on the shaft. A fellow redid my water pump and used setscrews and they would loosen in a couple of heat up cool down cycles. When that ha ppened the head cracked in six places. Woe was me. I took the thing apart and put a flat on the shaft and used red locktite to hold it . The cracked head was another big problem. The car was out of commission for a year and a half. I would not do this without locktite.

Ed,
Some of us are still waiting for your post. I understand that you got sidetracked with batteries for the truck.

The car looks to be in decent condition for a twenty year old car.

Be sure you do not take that penalty of law tag off!

Ed,
everyone should be a little jealous about the ease at which you fixed your front end. It is too bad that other manufacturers did not imitate this setup. I am still a little curious about how the bearing retainers ended up with the wear on the backside. Does there seem to be a way to set that retainer at just the right place? It seems that you have a choice of moving a quarter turn at a time. Is there a picture of the outer bearing?

I read each post a couple of times and just couldn't see a condescending attitude. ???

That is a wonderful story. We need more lawyers that want to do things for kicks!
