  1. Hi Bob, I've got it all figured out thanks to a picture of your '16 and checking out some others with production dates. The change occured somewhere in later 1916 production. Mine has the 114 wheelbase. I've got the apron just about ready for paint and re-installation. Thanks again! Bill
  2. Thanks for this suggestion.
  3. Thanks, Dave! That answers my question. That's what Rodger thought w/o looking it up. It is definitely a '16. All numbers match. S/N 106003. I think I'll leave it off. It's quite a chore grinding off the weld. The headlight bar is definitely a later addition. Could the wheelbase have been lenghthened later in 1916 and confused with 1917 because of some confusion with production dates? I believe it was in the Aug/Sept 2010 issue of the DBC News where it is confirmed that up until '24 production dates were according to calendar year. This would account for some '16s having the older style fenders and the later ones such as mine having the fully skirted fenders. I will check again with Rodger when he returns.
  4. I had to remove the apron prior to painting because some previous owner had brazed it to the front of the fenders-a very sloppy job covered with bondo. I am debating as to whether I should put it back.' I have seen other '16s with and without. Does anyone know if this was standard on the '16s or a later add-on? Thanks ! Bill
  5. Serial numbers for Dodge are found on the front door post-right side from 1930-42. So, the Vin number is 4155486.
  6. Thanks again, guys! I'm also removing the front apron which for some inexplicable reason was brazed to the fender and is a bit out of line.
  7. Thank you all for helping me solve the dilemma. There was no protective head on the rivets and no marring of the rivets. The car is in the paint shop undergoing a return to the original black. I wanted to be sure there was nothing there before painting it.
  8. Mine also has the "stiffeners". It's those darn rivets that have me confounded.
  9. There are two rivets on either side of the top part of the hood (black dots on the photo). Does anyone know if there is supposed to be anything on the underside? Thanks! Bill
  10. Didn't know there was another kind! (haha) Seriously, I will meet with our tourism director next week to put something together just in case there is interest. In March we hosted 28 Model T's from a club in Tulsa-for the second time. Seems they like the area.
  11. Any interest in Southwest Louisiana, the heart of Cajun Country?
  12. Thanks, 36D2. I asked because of the sodium hydroxide. If I read this correctly, it is DOT not restricted. I'm assuming that the % of sodium hydroxide in the product does not override this DOT regulation.
  13. Am anxious to try this on two spare tires. It seems to be unknown in these parts. A relative from up North is willing to send me some. Can this be mailed (shipped) or is it listed as hazardous material?
  14. Does anyone else remember the jingle, "It's so easy when you use Lestoil"?
  15. Just for historical accuracy: if the serial number indicates a Nov. 1922 build date then it's a '22. Until 1924 build date corresponded with the calendar year. (DBC News, Aug/Sept 2010). Good luck with your plans!
  16. Found this on de.wikepedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Standard: Hope it helps. Standard Series 140/141 (March 1928-July 1928) Also, the Dodge Brothers Club News Aug/Sept 2010 (somewhat more detailed) as well as Myers Early Dodge in their catalog.
  17. The Nerthercutt Museum located in Sylmar, Calfiornia has tons of information on just about any car.For more detailed info go to: The Nethercutt Collection
  18. Yes. I believe the courtmartial took place 1925. Movie is from 1955.
  19. Thanks, Tony, U R right and thanks 1930 for being nice.
  20. Just a couple of clips. Lots of Dodge Brothers in this movie.
  21. Thanks, Dave and Keiser 31. That was my thought but the painter suggested that would not happen. I'll see if he can "regroove" where the bondo is. That is the only bondo on the car. I do have a penchant for originality. I just don't want to risk undoing the weld.
  22. The '16 is in the paint shop awaiting a return to its original black. It had a cheap but still presentable paint job. I wanted to remove the apron and only then noticed that it had been welded to the fender and covered with bondo toward the front. The passenger side is not welded but still covered with bondo in the same place. The painter is thinking of covering the rest of the gap to make it seamless. Thanks for any thoughts on this. Bill
  23. I'm planning on repainting my '16 soon and was wondering just how to remove and replace the radiator emblem as I don't want to botch anything up.
  24. Thanks for the vicarious experience. Great photos!!
  25. Thanks to all for your input. Special Interest Autos has exactly what I need. I hope this will be useful for anyone having the Delco Ignition. Most highly recommended!
