  1. The bendix is easy! (I have one of those too!)
  2. Yes the efi was problematic back in the day. Mostly because of a lack of training and the early parts were trash. what people don’t know is Chrysler took back those parts in the mid 80s and rebuilt them with better tech available at that time. I have about a dozen efi systems on hand that can be swapped if needed. The efi has pump in the air cleaner along with the computer, etc.
  3. As you all may recall about four years ago I found a 82 Sinatra Imperial complete with the original EFI. It had sat for 23 years and I got it for free. I’ve been a longtime admirer of these since about 20 years ago. it was in rough shape and needed the efi brought back and all the usual and of course paint, interior, etc. well I’m on my final rung of having the interior done so I thought I would show some photos!
  4. Wow! I have all of his WPC magazines from that era, now i will have to dig them out!
  5. I don’t do frame off restorations and just repair as I go! Life is too short and I like to enjoy the car as fast as I can! None of them sat for more than a year before they were running and driving. the studebaker was the longest at 1 year and 2 months, just because of the lack of parts availability. And the fact that it had been someone’s failed frame off restoration and was disassembled! The shortest was my 62 imperial which was running in 4 days. I usually take it to a shop and have them go through it and do all the big stuff I can’t do, then I bring it home and get all the small stuff done. Then drive it for six months and then get it painted.
  6. My grandfather was a prolific buyer of Chrysler products in the s CA area and a member of WPC until his passing in 1983 (he had 25 cars 90% Chrysler products), I’m surprised he didn’t beat you to this one!
  7. I found the radio first and now I’ve found the bezel!
  8. I love mine! It’s a work in progress!
  9. I love working on my cars but do any of you work on tractors? My grandfather passed away in the early 80s and my mom saved this Montgomery Ward Hydrostatic 16 tractor (it’s a Gilson). It ended up locked in a shed until about 2009 when we hauled it out and repaired it. My mom didn’t have room for it and we ended up selling it to a guy in January 2010. Life happened and I graduated from college twice, got married, had a kid, everyone got older, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the tractor. in January 2023 I was cleaning out my emails and on a whim I attempted to contact the guy who had it, I had regretted selling it for years. Sadly the number was no good, so I did some sleuthing and found his LinkedIn and messaged him, he called me back and said to come down and pick it up the following weekend! I was so excited rented a uhaul and trailer and went down to the farmland in Riverside County (yes there are farms in southern ca). He loaded it up and I expected him to take the money I brought and he just gave it to me! He said it never was meant to not be mine. I couldn’t believe it! On my ride home I drove it by my grandfather’s grave and finally it came home to me! Im working on painting it currently and I have a decal kit with all the decals. The oil and transmission fluid are still clean and the tires hold air. I cleaned out the gas tank and have to wire a new ignition and the headlight switch and change the oil and then we will be firing it up! The funny thing is the data plate I removed 13 years ago I still have and I returned it to its rightful spot yesterday!
  10. The worst interior I ever saw. I could smell it 20 ft away
  11. 1. maybe it’s not the age but attitude 3. You are a rare one many in these clubs think cars past a boomers childhood aren’t worth even working on.
  12. Younger people (those under 40) don’t want to join: 1. Politics and bureaucracy with 80 year olds running everything who continue to do things the same because that’s the way they have always been done. 2. We are working professionals and would like to have our voice heard 3. cars from the 70s and up ARE classic cars and should be respected. I have almost no interest in 50’s or 60’s cars. 4. We don’t do clubs that comes straight out of the 50s. 5. inclusivity is a must 6. we have social media and it should be used effectively. 7. many because of the era we came out of don’t have a car yet but should be encouraged to join nonetheless. 8. those sub 25 year olds aren’t joining because even if they want a classic they are expensive and insurance is impossible to get. 9. Many people live in apartments or rental situations and don’t have room to work on the cars.
