  1. My tires are supposed to be in production this week at Diamondback so in anticipation I jacked her up and took my old ones off. I plan to have all the balance weights put on the back of the wheels so I removed the old weights on the fronts and cleaned up the outer edges with some coarse sandpaper and strong detergent. Shortly I will use grease remover then spray bomb the wheels black. Comment - this on the floor work does not react well with my almost 75 year body, took me two days to recover!

Interesting find - I was told the standard for '60 was black painted wheels for cars with wheel covers, and all of mine are black. Three of the wheels are vented with the center attached at four points to the outer rim but one is welded solid all the way around and it is showing red paint peeking through the current black coat. I assume this is an older wheel - ???

If you're not worried about originality Clarks makes a beautiful carpet kit, all pre-cut, binded edges, & ready to install, including tire cover. Makes the trunk match the rest of the car. Never cared for those floppy, wrinkley, dirty looking factory mats. IMO they seem out of place in a top of the line luxury vehicle of the era(sorry). My Riv is dark metallic grey w black interior & the black carpeted trunk w black cardboard give the car a more integrated look. If it wasn't raining I'd take & send some pics, but I can guarantee satisfaction w Clarks' product.

I also used one of their kits on my 63 and was very pleased.

  3. I am looking to convert my non-ac LeSabre and add air conditioning. This conversion could range from a full factory refit to a simple underdash addition depending on what I can find. I am interested in any applicable parts from individual to complete systems. Of special interest are factory in-car air outlets and housings, controls, three groove damper and water pump pulleys, fan and fan clutch, compressor and alternator brackets, let me know what you have available.

  5. The 64 SF is my favorite model. I think this one looks real sad for $27,000. Agree with most of the nits picked but the general condition shown looks rough, high mileage, interior problems, top problems. If they put chevy wheels on it to match an incorrect bolt pattern what did they do to the back? This model is also very trim intensive, the rear tail panel is damaged and I would not be surprised if all the complex diecast rocker trim is too.

Another example of someone trying to sell a car for a high price without bothering to clean it or take any decent pictures. I hope I'm wrong and the first one to see it in person finds it to be a great car.

Ran into a slight hiccup. One of my fears that I have been putting off forever (procrastination is my downfall). The motor mounts have been welded onto the stub frame, and NOT in the correct place. I have no idea why this would have happened, maybe the po was planning a motor swap?  I knew they werent right, and kept ignoring. Now its time to pay the piper and get them relocated. Slight setback. Also I left the dr. side sheet metal off for ease of installation, but came to the conclusion last night that I am going to take the pass. side off and remove the core support for ease of motor install. Just a few bolts, its all been restored so that part should be easy peasy.

Been there, but I was able to leave the fenders in place. That sucks about the motor mounts.
