I sent you an e-mail with attachment.
You need the 1965 Body Manual - there are several copies offered on eBay right now, plus check the literature for sale section of The Riview.
-
I assume that you need it in an "official" GM publication.
I have checked the 1965 Chassis Service Manual, the 1965 Preliminary Chassis Manual, the 1965 Body Service Manual, the showroom brochure, owner's manual, and other pieces of literature that I have. I found it on page 118 of the Standard Catalog of Buick, Third edition, 1903-2004. The curb weight of a 1965 Riviera is 4,036 lbs. Seventy Years of Buick, page 296, quotes the same.

Remember, I had my work done in 2005. Also, are you rebuilding as routine maintenance or do you have a problem? A rebuild done well will last a long time. Just remember to lube the carrier bearing. The instructions are in the shop manual.
-
To itemize, $45 to remove and replace the driveshaft, $26.50 for each u-joint, $68.50 for the carrier bearing, $59.85 to install the u-joints, $24.95 to install the carrier bearing, and $70.00 to balance the shaft.
-
My carrier bearing had worn so much that I had a bad driveshaft vibration over 35 mph. It felt like the car was going to shake itself apart. It was a long trip home from a show 45 miles away.

I had my driveshaft rebuilt six years ago. A local driveline company replaced the carrier bearing, installed three new u-joints, and balanced the drive shaft. It cost me $340.00 (September 2005 price). I haven't had any problems since.

Unclear to me if you are looking for an application for the front seats or the rear seats. If you are looking for infomation on the installation for the front seats, Wayne Robson, #7784 of Christchurch, NZ had a two page article in the July/August 2002 Riview, Vol. 18, No. 5, complete with pictures. Copies of the article would be available from Tom Mooney, #56, mooney.thomas@sbcglobal.net. Ordering information is available on the ROA web site.

Way to go, Tony. Fifteen more and you'll catch up to Kevin.

w/o a/c: Delco-Remy Delcotron model 1100708 - 42 amps 6500 rpm, 30 amps at 1500 rpm - belt tension 80 lbs.
with a/c: Delco Remy Delcotron model 1100709 - 55 amps at 6500 rpm, 40 amps at 1,500 rpm - belt tension 110 lbs.
The shop manual shows four wires - two to the regulator, one to ground and one to the junction block.

In Andover, regular is around 3.75.9 and 91 octane pure premuim is 4.29.9. Ten cents more a gallon would be wonderful!

There is a web site that lists every gas station in the U.S. that sells ethanol-free gas - sorted by state and city. The list even has the octane rating sold. The site is Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada.

Tom, I can attest to the fact that the motor swap can work. Greg at S & M Electro-Tech (turnswitch.com) in Blaine, Minnesota converted a vent window motor by tapping mounting holes into the case. It has worked perfectly (knock on wood) for seven years now. He also added an inline 15 amp fuse as extra protection in case of a bad limit switch.

I checked the Buick part numbers you listed with my 1940-71 parts book.
No matches.
-
Thanks, Tom. I'm checking with O'Reilly today. Their online catalog shows one for my application.

It turned out that the lines weren't the source of my leak. I've cancelled my order with Inline Tube.

I was in his pole barn today and told him what my problem was. He didn't say anything about having access. Must be because I'm not a commercial account.
Great time yesterday - thanks for inviting us. Barb & I both think that you have an excellent combination of house and barn. Now if you only had some model cars to decorate with.

It's in front of the carb by the thermostat housing.

Collectors Auto Supply lists one for $195. Classic Buicks lists their's for $26. Has anyone had dealings with either of these suppliers?

I need a source for a water control valve for a 65, 401 with a/c. This is the valve by the thermostat housing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 65 Riviera ownership.
I have some suggestions:
Get the Buick Service Manual, 1965, Chassis - 45000, 46000, 48000 and 49000 Models.
Get the Buick Service Manual, 1965, Body, All Models
It wouldn't hurt to get the 1965 Buick Preliminary Chassis Service Information, all series and the 1965 Riviera Body Service Manual
All are published by GM and usually found on eBay or from literature vendors through the ROA.
(Join the Riviera Owners Association if you haven't already)
Then see the post titled Clamshell Motor Wiring Diagram and order the set of Service Bulletins from Jim Cannon. They are well worth the investment.
Keep posting here and you should be able to find the answers to all your questions.
-
Thanks, Jim. I have placed the order.

Does anyone know of a source for the radiator to transmission pipes for a 65? If I read my parts book correctly, I need Group 4.128, part #1362632 - inlet and part #1362633 - outlet. All suggestions appreciated.
Buick 66 GS - Wheels Size

Congratulations on finding the Riviera. The first thing you should do is join the Riviera Owners Association. There is a lot of information on their website, but you must be a member and get the log-in and password to access most of it.
Your Riviera came with 15"x6" wheels. The tires were 8.45 x 15, either whitewall or redline.
In 1966 Buick sold 45,348 Rivieras, of which 5,718 were GS models. There is an article in the members only section about how to identify a true GS.
Also, we love pictures - post some when you can.
Good luck with the Riv.
