  1. Posting an advertisement with photo and contact information on the Buy/Sell area of this website would be a good start. That is certainly a free way to get some exposure among people who are involved in the antique car hobby. Good luck.

  2. I'm a Model A Ford owner. Finding a Model A with THE original engine, or THE original shocks, or THE original (insert part of your choice here) is often a tough order. Lots of used parts from other Original Model A's (which might have been on a different body style) are needed to restore the average Model A Ford. (Yes, even some high quality reproduction parts sometimes slip in.) <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I don't really want to see the frame serial number on my Model A, and that is the only way to actually see if the car is the car as it is titled. What in the heck would I do if it did not agree with the title? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I guess Cloning is too advanced a concept for me to understand or worry about. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

  3. Barry, the Equalizer does not use chains. After reading about your misfortune, I did a lot of research before buying a good used trunion bar style hitch from a local RV dealer. The Equalizer is the one that I would have bought if I was going to buy a new one. The trunion bar style with separate sway control worked well for me in my recent trip from Southeastern NC to Hershey, but I like the Equalizer's simpler design. Sorry about all of your trouble, but thanks for helping me avoid the round bar style.

  4. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> I guess we could take all of the Model A bodies off of the Chassis so we could see the frame serial number <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />.... but maybe that might be a bit of trouble. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I think this would be opening up a can of worms that needs to stay shut. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

  5. I agree with the post show mandatory right turn being a pain. Luckily I found my way back without incident. Other than that, my only complaint was all the mud I got on my car (and trailer and tow vehicle) in the trailer parking area. I parked in a wonderful dry field on Thursday and then Friday it was turned into a field of mud. On Saturday it was a wonderful slip-sliding mud pile. I spent an hour getting mud off of the tires and underneath the fenders of my Model A, but I guess I got enough off since I now have my Senior Award. So.... I am happy with the final outcome of my first visit to Hershey. I am sure I will be back.

  6. I hope you are right about the weather. I will be leaving NC before very early in the morning (The wife is not going to be happy when I wake her up for the trip <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> She does not like getting up when it is still night outside <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) and will have my Hershey Day One tomorrow. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

  7. All of these photos are on a set of 4 DVD's that all of my brothers and sister just got. In the near future, we will be dividing up the actual albums by lottery, I hope my number comes up on the early ones. If not, I might be able to do some horse trading for the early ones. I do recognize some of the people in some of the photos, but I have not yet had the time to sit down and compare all of the photos to identify exactly which family members are in each photo, but yes they are all apparently family members. I am going to try to find the time to print some photos and take them with me to Hershey.

  8. Dave, I agree with you on the right hand drive for car number 3 and number 4. Car number 5 and the un-numbered one next to it, I am not sure about. I can't quite make out whether they are right hand drive or left hand drive. But, when I look closely at an enlarged version of the original photo, I am pretty sure that car number 2 is left hand drive. So, if I understand your statement of Buick switching to left hand drive in 1914, along with the radiator shape looking right for a Buick to me, would that make the photo date as 1914 correct and car number 2 possibly a new 1914 Buick?

  9. 22,000 is the estimate of the total number of photos. Only a small number of them are really specifically car related. Probably have other photos that include cars that I will eventually be able to share, but figured I would start with the earliest and most unusual ones. My mother never threw out anything. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> We also have her Diary for a time span of 50 years and my Grandmother's from 1909 to 1913. I never knew my grandmother, since she died before I was born, but I have been doing some interesting reading.

  10. My mother spent most of her life in Moline, but my limited memory (plus the Beardstown flood photos that I have been looking at) tell me that she grew up in Beardstown, so I guess the family was there before her birth as well.

So, my guess is somewhere near Beardstown.

I know very little about Illinois geography, I guess I need to do some research.

  11. The photos were both scanned in the same scan (they scanned each page of the photo album). I copied them and cropped them into separate images. I can make the cars out a little better when viewing them in "my pictures" on my PC, but can't seem to figure out how to get them online in a larger format. I am going to try to get my brother to get me an individual first generation scan of each photo individually. I will try to get those files and will be willing to email them to anybody who is interested. If anybody want's an emailed copy of what I have now, I can provide that as well. I'm going to try attaching one of the photos to see if this will help...

  12. In cleaning out my mother's house, we found an amazing collection of stuff that she collected in her 86 years of life. My brother hired a temporary worker to scan approximately 22,000 family photos. I have been reviewing photos that I remember from my youth and also been trying to figure out where my mother had some of these hidden, as I have never seen some of them before. My mother was born in 1920, and it appears that these photos must have come from my maternal grandparent's as the album that they were in was labeled 1914. I can't say if the date is right for these photos or not, but I think they were probably taken in Illinois, where my mother was born. I know nothing else about them, but thought they might be enjoyed by some other forum users and maybe stimulate some discussion. So here are a couple that I had never seen before.

  13. That is amazing. That forcast seems to be changing every few hours. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> Hopefully, as it gets closer, the forcast will moderate and stay the same. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I have been a member of AACA for 10 years and I am finally ready for my first trip to Hershey! The car is ready, the trailer is ready, the tow vehicle is ready and I am really excited.

    Dry or Wet, I'll be there! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
