  1. The noise generally starts when the ignition is first turned on, although sometimes during operation. I did not check end play , used oil on the bronze bushes. I have given the motor a thump during the noise phase and this stops it. Could blade assembly be slipping on shaft ? Ken.
  2. My 1971 Centurion blower fan sometimes makes a loud humming / harmonic noise. Lasts for a few minutes ( or longer sometimes) then goes away. First thought bearings in fan motor so took out and lubed them. Noise still there , only changing pitch slightly when put on fast speed which leads me to nothing wrong with motor. An ideas please. Ken.
  3. Excellent ! Thanks Adam. They will print off great. Ken.
  4. G'day everyone. I am needing the steering geometry specifications to wheel align my '71 sedan ------ toe in / out , caster/camber etc. I have no workshop manuals. Thanks Ken.
  5. What make / model / year carb do you suggest ? I have a friend with the master engine who may need a more modern carb as a back-up on long trips. Ken.
  6. A simple choice. If you do not use or have a radio / cassette / CD then put in solid copper wires. If you do then get the latest technology stuff. I think they can make them out of silicone now. Ken.
  7. Well done. When driving the new ones home, place and hit the brass rod at 3 o'clock then opposite at 9 then 12 then 6 etc. This gives an even spread of force and will allow the new cup not to 'bite in'. When you have hit the new ones in , don't forget to wipe out or wash the area. There will probably be some small chips of brass floating around there. Ken.
  8. Hello all. In my opinion turn the manifold upside down and stick on a down draught carby. A Holley carb from an early Ford V8 flathead should work OK on the master. What do others think ? I restored my standard '29 tourer here in Australia and one of the first things I did was put on a down draught carby from a later model Ford crossflow engine. Never had any problems , get about 15 mpg. Also, if it gets hot in your country like here , put in an electric fuel pump. Here it's mandatory to stop vapour locking. Cheers Ken.

  10. I would strongly suggest that you do not put new bearings into used cups, especially if you can see that the bearing is worn. They go together as a new pair. They are only pressed in and you can get them out with a hammer and a brass drift ie. a piece of 1/2 inch round ( or bigger ) brass rod about 8-12 inches long. The soft brass will not damage the cups. Do not use steel !! Wear safety glasses. Hit forcefully around the edge of the cup and drive it out. The opposite to get the new one in. Hint** Put the new cup into the freezer for 30 minutes before fitting. If you are not confident take it to someone who has a press or machine shop. Good Luck ! Ken. Down Under.
  11. I've had no reply from this owner. Has anybody seen or heard of this car around. Thanks Ken.
  12. What are the major differences between the mid-late 70s Skyhawk and the Monza. How difficult ( or impossible ) would it be to convert a Monza to a Skyhawk ?
  13. My 1929 is negative ground : so it must be before then. Ken.
  14. Thanks Bill. If you or any other Buick members hear of anything worthwhile please send me a private message via this forum. Cheers , Ken.
  15. Congratulations ! Can you help me find one ?( a hardtop would be OK ) Ken.
  16. Contacted Steve today. He said the car is gone. Maybe Rechless1 bought it ? Ken 29 tourer 71 Centurion
  17. I would like some pictures please. Ken. 1929 Tourer model 25 1971 Centurion 4 door hardtop
  18. Will the Dynaflow trans off a 1963 401 nailhead bolt up to the 1962-3 aluminium V8. Thanks Ken.
  19. Are you sure the whistle is coming from the Dynaflow. When you have a vacuum leak on the inlet side of the engine there will be a whistling sound that varies with the foot pedal pressure. Get hold of a vacuum gauge and test. It could be inlet manifold gasket leak , or carby leak. Ken " Down Under"
  20. Does anybody know whether the V8 Dynaflow has the same bolt pattern as the straight 8. ie. can they be interchanged ? Thanks Ken.
  21. In Australia we have not had leaded fuel for over 5 years. Most old car owners put an additive into the tank when filling up , and Geez isn't that getting expensive now! As suggested previous , get the hardened valve seats put in now while the head is off. It isn't that costly and will give you peace of mind as well. By the way , are you going to put new valves in or stick with the old. I know from experience that unleaded burns much hotter and if you have original valves the metal will not as good as the modern stuff. Trust me. I put in N.O.S. exhaust valves in my '29 engine and after 4,000 miles developed a cracked head. When inspecting the exhaust valves the contact area was in a horrible condition , almost to the point where the valve angle face looked like the inside bit of corrugated cardboard and chunks were ready to break off. Try and get your machine shop to find a modern replacement ( preferably stainless steel ) Some machine work will be required to the valve to retro fit but it's worth it. Good Luck.
  22. Does your con rod have a hole down next to one of the cap bolt heads ? If so , then the correct mounting is with the hole installed to the right side of motor ( as you sit in the car ) This is so the oil squirts out of the hole and onto the camshaft to lube followers. This is how my 1929 engine is bolted up. Get another opinion for you 1926 motor , although it should be the same. Also make sure the rings are positioned correctly on the piston. The top ring gap should be 180 degrees around from the spark plug( directly opposite ) The second ring gap 1/ 3 the way around from the top and the oil ring 1/3 the opposite way. Good Luck ! Ken.
  23. My windscreen washer on the '71 Centurion is not working due to the rubber parts inside gone hard and perished. Where can I buy a re-build kit. Thanks.
  24. Looking to buy an original , honest, rust free vehicle. Not showroom condition , but one to be proud to own. Thanks Ken.
