  1. Is it possible the number on the title is the motor number? Do you have reservations about posting the number shown on the title on this board? Paul
  2. Here's what I've got so far: 9781534 has no superceding numbers. Discontinued 6/76. Group 12.112 is the front side door molding group. Can't get an application yet. 1216120 is discontinued so long it's not even in the system. Headlight buckets are usually group 2.726 No application yet either. Paul
  3. They were called Mimetic Wire Wheel Discs and were a factory option for '53, '54 and '55. They show up on eBay periodically. Make sure they come with the retainers. Paul
  4. Yes, it would. I would think that would be a very popular item with them. Paul
  5. Well, now we know. 20163693 (new number) fits the driver's door of: 78-80 Olds Cutlass Supreme, Supreme Brougham and Calais with B85 belt reveal molding option. 78-80 Buick Regal, Limited and Sport Coupe with B85 belt reveal molding option or CB4 and C04 rear padded vinyl tops. Paul
  6. Group 10.707 is front door window reveal moldings. It is not in my thru '65 Cadillac book. It is also not in my thru '66 Pontiac book. Nor is it in my thru '72 Buick book. But here's some more information: 20073165 started out in life as 20073167, changing to 20073165 on 12-1-77. 20073165 changed to 20163693 on 1-1-82. 20163693 was discontinued on 1-1-94. I hope to be able to figure out what this fits when I get to work tomorrow and have access to my computerized GM catalog. Paul

  8. You might be able to get a headliner from Classic Industries. They sell Impala parts. Your Delta is the same body as an Impala. You'd be surprised the stuff from an Impala that will fit on an Olds. As far as seat material, you'll have to try somewhere like SMS in the Pacific Northwest. They sometimes have NOS material and reproduction vinyls. They've got a website. If you enter the information from your trim plate, they'll send you samples of what they have. Then you'll have to take it to a shop and have new covers made. But SMS may be able to make you covers as well. Both places can be found by running a web search. Paul
  9. I would think on that car you would want the taller sidewall. I'm currently running radials on my '62 Starfire with no problems. However, I have heard that older wheels were never intended for radial tires and can flex quite a bit. I had radials on a '52 98 once and it was always throwing hubcaps due to the wheel flex. Paul
  10. There is a possibility you could have a bad cluster. We had an Achieva in the shop a couple of years ago with a bad cluster. The rebuilder was having a problem with the replacement clusters and we went through 3 more clusters before we got a good one. Or you could have any one of a number of other problems. I recommend your friendly local GM dealer, preferably one that used to service Oldsmobiles. Paul
  11. Toronado handles don't interchange with anything. Discontinued in '77 and '78. I couldn't track any down through my usual channels. Hubcaps don't interchange, either. Paul
  12. Answers to: 1. I can't check that until Monday. My parts book is at work. I'm tempted to say they are the same, but not sure. 2. See answer #1. Something tells me they are different. 3. Toronado dashes are fun. To access that bulb, I think you're going to have to drop the dash, which involves dropping the column. If you choose to do this, you'll want to replace all of the bulbs while you are in there. More than likely one bulb for the whole control assembly. You may be able to change that bulb from the bottom, but I doubt it. The last time I was in a Toro dash was about 5 years ago, so things are a little fuzzy. 4. I don't think so. Paul
  13. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I ordered a new radiator from USA Parts. Took 4 weeks for delivery and when I set it in the car, it was fully 4 inches too short top to bottom.</div></div> I don't want to turn this into a vendor bashing thread, but I have had multiple bad experiences with USA in regards to wrong parts and poor customer service. I try very hard not to buy from them. Just an FYI. Paul
  14. I'd take it to your local, friendly radiator shop and let them work on it. Maybe it can be re-cored, or just rodded out. Paul
  15. So what did you did to get it in specs? Paul
  16. Year? Model? This is a little vague. Paul
  17. Ride height specs are found in the shop manual. Rear specs are measured from the axle tube to the frame rail. Front specs are measured by inserting a rod into a hole in the lower control arm until it hits the frame rail. I had the exact opposite problem. Mine was too low in the front - I had to install spacers. I still think the back sits a little too high. And it leans a little bit to the driver's side, probably more so when hefty here is behind the wheel... Paul
  18. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">p/n 7728426</div></div> Discontinued 4/03. No replacing number. Two dealers in the whole country show stock on the GM locator. One is Modern Chevrolet in North Carolina. They want $39.95. Freight seems reasonable. But I've heard that sometimes their stuff isn't original GM. The other dealer is in California. That one is probably for real NOS. Then there's Collector's Auto Supply. They want $80. Paul
  19. Scott, I'm doing some of this from memory, but I think I've got it right. The base model 88 was called the Deluxe 88 (or was it 88 Deluxe...). Only available in 2 and 4 door sedans (and maybe a club coupe). My grandparents had a Deluxe 88 sedan, probably in the same shade of blue you are referring to. Convertibles and Holidays were not available in the Deluxe line. Deluxes had plainer interiors, no chrome around the windshield/backglass, and I think they had rubber stone guards in front of the rear wheels instead of stainless. It is a common misconception that all Supers had fender skirts - they were optional. There was only 1 V8 available in '52 - the 303. Deluxes had a 2bbl, Supers and 98s had a 4bbl (first year). Your car probably had the power brakes added as a dealer installed accessory when they came out in '53. I believe you said this was Holiday coupe. That's a pretty desirable model. Paul
  20. 303, 324, 371 and 394 motors are all related. I would think you could drop that 394 in your '55 with relatively few problems. In '56 they used the old style and new style HydraMatic with the 324. They eventually ended up using the new style HM with the 394. So I would say the old style would mate to a 394 as well. Paul
  21. From what I can tell they fit '67 thru '75 Cutlasses and '73 thru '75 Omegas. Can't help you with a value, but I wouldn't think they'd be real popular. EBay's probably your best bet. Paul
  22. This is just an educated guess, but I'd say you might have a BCM (body control module) issue. Sounds like it ought to go to your nearest friendly Buick dealer to be diagnosed. As had been mentioned, these cars have battery rundown protection, to keep from killing the battery in case a door is left open. So the dome lights are run through the BCM. I believe the automatic door locks are also controlled by the BCM. Paul
  23. Scott, Power brakes were not available on Oldsmobiles until '53. I've seen '52s that have had power brakes added as part of the restoration process. Also, something tells me that dealerships were supplied with retrofit kits in order to install the '53 power brake accessory packages on '52s. I had a '52 98 sedan many years ago. It had neither power brakes or power steering, but it did have the Autronic Eye headlight dimmer. '52 was the first year for power steering and Autronic Eye. A really cool option they had on the '52s was the Steering Wheel Watch. It mounted in the horn ring and the movement of the wheel kept it wound. Watches show up on eBay regularly. Horn rings and steering wheels are less frequent and expensive. The really hard part to get is the special curved turn signal lever. Alot of cars equipped with the wheel watch had a compass installed in place of the clock on the dash. I think this is the most active board you're going to find for Oldsmobiles of this era. Paul
