  1. That's why I was thinking aftermarket as well
  2. The 1961, the 61's are far more desirable, evident in pricing and overall collectability. 63's are average in the Buick market except for the Wildcat. This pertains to full size.
  3. While going through a large antique market in Columbus today I ran across a pair of these wheel covers. I didn't recognize them, my thought was Terraplane but didn't see anything close looking at them. I also wondered about them being aftermarket. Any thoughts? Thank you

  7. Ran out of allowable pictures on the other thread. Body man says the cheapest method toward repair would be to replace the hood and trunk lid which would be much cheaper than repairing them. They supposedly can be found on CL by people parting these cars out pretty cheaply. The kids actually climbed and walked on the car.
  8. He sent a bunch more pictures that more clearly show the exterior damage as well as a few others
  9. Don't forget the outside is vandalized and not so pretty
  10. Just sent me the new top and a trunk picture
  11. Here are some shots he sent me as he is detailing
  12. Friend of mine lost 2 beautiful Buick's in a fire a couple years ago, he had stated value with Hagerty and as with your experience, his was seamless and quick as well. He had said that he wished State Farm for the garage contents would have been as easy to deal with as Hagerty.
  13. He said he put over 200 miles on it over the weekend and it drives like a new one. Seems very pleased with it thus far, he had it state inspected and emission tested and passed with flying colors as well. Looking forward to seeing it.
  14. A close friend of mine just bought this 90 Reatta convertible with 9,500 miles on it. It was a vandalized by kids in the garage and will need body work and a full paint job. The top was also sliced up and a new top has been installed. Sickening to think kids have such little regard for things like this. He plans on going through it top to bottom, detailing it out and then probably selling it.
  15. My long time friend, Brian Laurance, has shared your epic journey with me and what fun to follow you across the country. I meant to add a note before your trip back west as my Aunt and Uncle owned and operated the Sunset Drive In Theatre on US 66 @ Illinois 138 outside of Mt. Olive, Illinois (between Litchfield and Staunton). The drive in opened in either 1950 or 1951 and closed in 1974 with the opening of I-55. Uncle Lou also built a motel and a café at the same location and I believe those may still be in operation. All that remains of the drive in are the concrete bases for the screen and located behind the restaurant. I spent many a wonderful summer visiting Aunt Edna and Uncle Louie and the drive-in was a big part of it. Two lanes of 66 still existed between Staunton and Litchfield the last time we were there a few years ago. Originally, all four lanes were kept in operation but the northbound side was later closed. The original 66 went through Staunton for a few years. May you continue to enjoy your journey safely and with good weather. It has been fun riding along with you.
  16. John, they must have had some differences, mine has a (d) paragraph in section 7, a different part number, a stamped circled 12 on the top right corner and the corners are all rounded.
  17. Green tops were very popular on the Hunter Green, the black tends to give it a more formal elegant look. You will get no arguments from me as to Buick Electra's virtues in 72.
  18. For 1972, Buick's most popular full-size model was the Electra 225 Custom 4 door hardtop (Model 8439) with production of 104,754 units. This car was built at Buick's home plant in Flint, Michigan on March 8, 1972. It is finished in the model's fourth most popular color (9,999 built) of Hunter Green with a complementing Black vinyl roof and coordinating Green Kenway cloth and Madrid-grain vinyl bench seat interior. The car was sold new by Morrison Buick in New Castle,PA and the original keys and dealership key fob go with the car. Typical of most Electras, the car is nicely optioned with such amenities as: power windows, AM-FM radio with rear seat speaker, soft-ray tinted glass, power door locks, tilt steering wheel, sunshade map light, protective side molding, door edge guards and manual control factory air conditioning and NOS period Buick handy mats. The car's originality is absolutely amazing and reflects the original, low mileage of 11,6xx. All four original T-3 headlamps, hoses, belts, clamps and fasteners are factory original and sport the original GM numbers on them. Even the factory correct vacuum advance is original down to the red overspray on it. The interior is impeccable and shows no wear or damage of any type and the trunk and engine bay are amazing examples of a truly original car. Even the unused original spare is still in the trunk. The car was undercoated when new and was very generously applied so there are areas, such as the inner fenders, that have been well coated. This excess coating could be removed but that will be for the new owner to decide. There are few downsides to this vehicle but they should be mentioned. The air conditioner needs to be recharged but still properly recycles. The new owner will be able to have the system charged with original Freon or may choose to convert it to 134A at this time. The tires were replaced in 1993 so at 23 years old should be replaced for safety, new owner may opt to replace with correct bias ply tires. The gas gauge and clock (works intermittently) may also need to be replaced but other than that, everything is in proper working order. The radiator, fuel pump and distributor cap have all been replaced but the original parts are boxed and all go with the car. The car runs, drives and shifts as a nearly new '72 Buick should. This cars smoothness and effortless driving was second to none in it’s day and is still magnificent to drive today. While other equally fine examples still exist, this car stands on its own and should please the most discriminating buyer. The attention this car receives when out and about is amazing. If you want the closest thing to a nearly new 1972 Buick Electra, this car warrants your consideration. As one might expect, the original manuals and hang tags are still with the car as is a unique assembly line form. It is truly an incredible time capsule. This stunning Electra 225 Custom after 23 years hidden from the public view made it's debut at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix International 2 day car show - it was the hit of the American side of the car show with a constant crowd of people amazed at the grandeur, condition and mileage of this incredible time capsule. It turns peoples heads as it effortlessly glides by with a stately elegance that has been lost to history. With all that being said, it is a forty-four year old vehicle and there is no warranty either expressed or implied.
