  1. Interesting - not one word here about the WPC Nationals or Chryslers at Carlisle. Didn't anyone go? Wasn't anyone interested enough to let us know about the meets?
  2. Don Axelrod is a great guy to work with. Ken Sobel
  3. Rick, I thought that the chicken joined the four fisherman singing group. Ken
  4. I knew what you meant. Thanks for the good wishes. I guess "Jurutha" will spend a lot of garage time in the upcoming months. Ken
  5. My friend who had a 1940 Plymouth is having severe ignition problems. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley) area? Thanks, Ken Sobel hypnotist01@sbcglobal.net
  6. To all who put the Meet together, Thanks for a wonderful week of fun. It was quite apparent that you spent a lot of time and effort to assure that we all were well taken care of. The comeraderie of the Dodge Brothers and Sisters make all of our gatherings like a family reunion. The weather was great and the scenery was spectacular! To those who could not attend, make sure that you make next year's meet in Canada. I'm sure that the Canadian hospitality will assure us of another successful and entertaining week of fun. Unfortunately, in my travels with my 1934 Dodge following the Michigan meet, I was going to Chryslers at Carlisle in Pennsylvania and the WPC Meet in Virginia, I suffered a major injury when I stepped in a hole in a sidewalk in Connecticut. I ruptured my achilles tendon and will be in a cast until at least Halloween. That quickly ended all of the shows for this year, including one of my favorites; Hot August Nights in Reno. My wife, who only once towed a trailer before, was forced to tow "Jurutha" from Connecticut to Los Angeles in 6 days so I could get to my doctor for care (the Emergency Room physicians told me to go home for the operation). It was great seeing all of you in Michigan and I am planning to be at Canada's Meet next year. Ken Sobel
  7. Vic, Thanks for the reply. I'll try some 20-50 this weekend. Ken
  8. Can someone provide me with the tune-up specs for a 1940 plymouth? Point Gap and/or Dwell Plug gap Thanks
  9. Thanks for the reply. I have been using a single weight, but will change to a multi-weight this weekend. I'll be travelling around the US for the DB Nationals, Chryslers at Carlisle and the WPC Nationals. That will be a good check to see how things are working. I'll let you know what happens. Ken
  10. Rob, I answered your question on the WPC posting. Ken Sobel
  11. Rob, Your car was made at a time when gasoline had significantly lower octane requirements than today's vehicles. Using 87 octane would be the preferred gas. I had to change the timing from 2 degrees ATDC to about 5 degrees BTDC to get adequate power from my 1934 Dodge with today's gas. Ken Sobel hypnotist01@sbcglobal
  12. Does anyone have experience using synthetic oil in their old cars? I have a 1934 Dodge and use the freeways frequently. After a while my oil pressure drops (engine is fairly new) as the oil thins. I was wondering if synthetic oil would prevent this lowering of oil pressure. Thanks in advance.

  14. Rob, I had the same problem with my 1934 Dodge. I ground down the set screws so they don't protrude beyond the u-clip when tightened. I also have the mirror toward the upper end of the forward side of the door frame. Ken Sobel hypnotist01@sbcglobal.net
  15. Rick, I've always enjoyed these meets. I'll be there from Los Angeles with my 1934 Dodge. I look forward to meeting you. Ken Sobel
  16. Andy Bernbaum has the vent window rubber for $89.00 a pair. His company number is 1-617-244-1118. Roberts has this also at the same price. Their number is 1-978-363-5407. Hope this helps. Ken Sobel
  17. I'm trying to help a friend. Does anyone have an ignition coil to fit a 1940 Plymouth? Thanks in advance. Ken Sobel hypnotist01@sbcglobal.net

  19. Make sure they remove ALL the labels that Coker puts inside the tires. They will scuff the tubes and you will end up with flat tires. Ken Sobel

  21. I'm a big-bellied owner of a 1934 Dodge. When I removed the front seat I was happy to find that the factory had two location holes for the seat placement. I was able to add a few inches merely by unbolting the seat bracket and using the holes which allowed for the extra room. I'll be at the Dodge Brothers Nationals in Traverse City, MI, Chryslers at Carlisle and the WPC this summer. If you're there I'll be happy to show you the setup. (I'll be the one carrying the Thompson sub-machine gun) Ken Sobel
  22. Why don't we get a group going for the fish dinner? I'll be there on the 18th. Ken Sobel
  23. Where are you in the L.A. area? I'm in Encino with my 1934 Dodge sedan. Ken Sobel
  24. I'll be there with bells on! "Jurutha" is ready for the trip. The DB meets are always fun. It's a long trip from Los Angeles, but I'm continuing on to Chryslers at Carlisle and the WPC in Williamsburg, VA. Gas should cost me about $10,000.00! Ken Sobel
  25. Thanks, I'll be coming from California via Michigan for the Dodge Brothers national meet. Ken Sobel
