  1. You can do a search on this forum with keyword "Sinatra" and get past comments. Also, the car was up on eBay before with the latest time being auction number #2424649195 ending on 7/27/2003. Going price was 9955.55, reserve was met, "hansen64" was the seller, and "rick_hendrickson" was the winner. It originally had a Buy It Now price of 14,000. Miles listed on it were 88,450.
  2. HessLakeGuy & Greg & Nic, Thanks for the advice. I'll go exploring in the throttle body and IAC areas this weekend. One question remains though: If the butterfly or the IAC valve was sticking, why does a power off, power on reset (restarting the car) clear up the condition?
  3. I've been having a strange idle issue with my '91 Reatta (901445). How to make the condition happen and the symptoms are as follows: Start it up, drive a bit, stop, put the car in park or neutral. Sometimes, the engine RPM does not return down back to idle speed (~600 RPM). Instead, it will stick at a value between 1500 - 2000 RPM. I noticed this was happening as the engine RPM was unusually high in city driving and would not decrease when coming to a stop making it more difficult to stop. As far as I can tell, distance and outside ambient temperature aren't factors. When this happens, I've tried quickly depressing the accellerator but no luck in slowing the RPM down however, if I turn the car off and restart it, RPM's will be normal and stay that way until at least it is turned off again. I have downloaded the 91 service manual. I've also driven w/ the car in diagnostics. No trouble codes are present. ED01 (Throttle Position Sensor) reads .46 when stopped and no accellerator is applied at both the expected 600 RPM and faster 1500-2000 RPM. ED07 (O2 Sensor) varies between .4 and .85 and does change rapidly as the manual indicates for a good sensor). I've checked for accellerator cable binding also and nothing. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone shed some light on something else to try to pinpoint the trouble?

  5. I've been thinking about adding XM to my Reattas. (I've got the older 2nd gen Sony PnP units in my other cars.) An update to the larger "shark fin" XM antenna is available. It's made by Terk and is about 2" x 2" and lies flat. The model number is XM-3. With the large surface area of the Reatta rear window, it'd be easy enough to mount it inside either onto the glass or on one of the rear inner panels so you don't have to drill or upset the look of the outside of the car. My pick would be to mount it on top of the high mount stop lamp housing. That way, there's be an unobstructed path out the rear window at all times. I did this on my '96 Buick Riviera (which has a similar large rear window) on the rear package tray along with a GPS antenna. Both work great and I've had no problems. P.S. There's at least one of these on eBay all the time. Go here for an example.
  6. Okay, some might say this isn't Reatta related. If you think about it, you might come around and agree that it definitely is. It's a given that our Reatta's are very unique and very short lived. Some in the outside world who haven't experienced the Reatta say they're not really GM's brightest idea. At least, we who like the car can continue the love/hate relationship as long as we want. We can choose live with the hot tongue and cold shoulder when it comes to parts, service, and non-fan opinions. The diehard "owners" (lessees) of this other GM short lived car aren't as fortunate. Go here for their web page.
  7. Thanks for the replies so far. I apologize if I wasn't clear in my 1st note but on my 1991 coupe, the outside door lock itself is a plain old vanilla door lock as found on any other GM car without the plastic illuminator ring in it. The question is if anybody with a 1991 can verify if the illuminated driver's door lock option was dropped or if this car's driver's door lock assembly was replaced along the way. I've attached a picture to help. (Yeah, yeah, I know that I need a new door handle assembly but I've only had the car 3 weeks and a lot of other stuff needs chasing after.) Again, thanks.
  8. My 1991 coupe is equipped with non-illuminated drivers door lock however, the 1988 and 1990 Reattas that I own all have this feature. Was this option deleted for 1991? (I did look in the service manuals and through the old posts on this forum but cannot find anything specific.)
  9. I definitely concur and is very reasonably priced as a source for Reatta parts.
  10. It's got to be a misprint for the Buy It Now price! Check out eBay item #2452630116.
  11. Which hamburger joint is that?
  12. I agree with the idea of some sort of reference being included in the FAQ section of the web page. It would definitely be a great help newbies and folks who are unsure of what to buy. As for the fine print should this ever became a reality, the topic should be introduced by words to the effect of a general disclaimer of it being a non-comprehensive list of products that members have tried and doesn't constitute an endorsement of any kind to any product (caveat emptor). Wording should also be included to point to the search function in order to get more information on the experience of any product mentioned. This way, members whose suggested products aren't included are not slighted and avoids any hassles later on should a member try a product and it didn't meet expectations. Also, the web master should be aware some maintenence would be expected for periodic updates.
  13. I agree it does looks nice on the outside and six grand is possibly an attractive price for a ragtop in great shape. One observation, if you bring up one of the pictures of the interior looking in from the passenger side, you'll note the drivers side seat and passenger side seats are different. The pasenger side has the thigh bolster that is separate from the seat cushion consistent with 16-way seats. The driver's side is not that way. For this car, Barney's database entry as of 08/2002 indicates the car is in Atlanta (versus Florida) with no 16-way seats so, maybe these items might be worth questioning the seller about before bidding should they matter to you. (The text indicates the seller owns 5 Reattas so he/she would probably be familiar with these concerns.)
  14. You're right but, sorry to say it was intentional in order to keep the entire roof assembly intact and whole for transplanting. I guess that what happens when the true value of all parts aren't known.
  15. The last few parts being picked off of 1G4EC11C2KB905189 before its final demise. (There's no top because of someone with a desperate want for a sunroof! Talk about cosmetic surgery...)
  16. Bakersfield21, Nine (9) Reattas in one area??? Wow. I live south of you just over the Grapevine and in the five years we've lived here, I've only seen three in normal driving situations (excluding ones on car lots): - an '88 Burgundy coupe at a DeSoto Ave gas station in Simi Valley (which I alerted the original owner lady to the reatta.net site and encouraged her to register the VIN) - an unknown year Maui Blue coupe going south on the 405 near Universal Studios - an unknown year Red coupe going east on Rt 126 from Fillmore to Castaic with the CA plate "D STARS". Next time I take a trip to B-field, I'll keep alert for one.

    Sag?

I'm seriously looking at another '90 convertible to purchase. She's got 110K on her and looks pretty good all around except there's excessive rubbing of paint from the bottom corner of both doors on the plastic door sill plates at the very front of each. The right is more excessive and has worn the paint completely off the door so bare metal is exposed. The left one is down to the primer. The original owner says it's never been in an accident. Carfax comes up clean. Visual inspection determines nothing. The car looks not to have ever been repainted and the telltale signs of orange peel, unevenness, pinstripe inconsistencies, and color mismatch are absent. The gaps around both doors when closed are evenly spaced and equal in the front, rear, and bottom. Both doors open freely and do not bind or stick. I've been told convertibles eventually sag in the middle due to no roof support. Might this be the case? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I'll send the VIN to Barney via mail note.
  18. RawjaNYC, I've wanted to install the LED assemblies in the Reatta and was investigating Ledtronic's offerings. They do charge the big buck and granted, the Reatta tail light cavities are huge but I would thought that with the extra LED's in each (bulb) assembly, the light output would have been diffused more evenly than what you indicated in your experience. Were you using the clear or red LED's?
  19. Thank you for your reply and information!
  20. spongebob, I asked a question about one of the mystery wires a while back. Here's the link to the thread. look here Chuck
