What’s the condition of the rubber ball bushing located on the front wishbone where it meets the cross member under the transmission?
-
Make sure the square head of the spring tie bolt is located in the square hole of the cross member. If it’s not, that could explain why things are moving around and why the ubolt nuts are at the end of the treads.

Nice Columbia two speed Ken. Yes the vacuum canister opening faces the front as per first picture.

RoyDidn’t know it would go any other way.

I didn’t put them in my engine. I’ve ran V12 with them and without, couldn't notice any difference either way. I am running high volume water pumps and they push plenty of water to the rear of the block. My stock 2 7/8” bore V12 has been bored to 2 15/16 + .020. No heat problems driving on these 95 plus degree days. Not even in town driving.

Hey Ken, Did you paint the inner side of the balance plates??
I did but not in the recess where the fiber washers go and also keep paint out of the holes for the pins and springs.

Are those little c clips hard to get off in order to disassemble this balancer?
Mike L.
I used a valve spring compressor to remove them.

I have two v12 engines apart.

It's normal. Convert your radiator to a pressure system by adding one of the pressure relief valves from Skip Haney. It simply attaches to the overflow tube on the radiator via a hose and clamp . The electric fan is gonna put a big pull on your electrical system . A generator doesn't put out at idle. How hot are you calling hot? If it's not boiling the water out its fine.

Bad power valve in Carburetor

The 42 engines were 2 15/16" bore then after the war changed back to 2 7/8". A lot of folks bore the 42 blocks out to 3 1/16" and use the readily available STD Ford V8 pistons.

The gauges don't care if it's pos or neg ground. A reducer can be installed to drop the current to 6 volts.

The 36 V12 wont work good anyway in your 38. Front mounts are different .

It was used when adjusting the lower anchor bolts on the Lockheed style brakes on the 39-41 Fords . The instructions says to apply 20 pounds of pressure to the pedal while the adjustment is being made. It may have other uses also.

I agree with 19tom40. I can rebuild and strobe your distributor but I can't rebuild your coil. You'll need to send it to Skip for that. I think you can come in under $400 minus a lot of headaches .

Been using 12 volts on my 40 6 volt starter for going on 23 years. Those starters have heavy windings in them. The Bendix Spring will probably let go before the ring gear. I haven't experienced either. I know several folks that are using 12 volts on their starters.
-
Starter don't care. It will run same direction pos or neg ground and will work fine on 12 volts.

It's 1939 and the movie "Gone With The Wind " is premiering . For some of the lucky buyers of the 1939 Lincoln Zephyr received from participating Dealers an envelope promoting the movie and the car ,that held the keys to your new car. The envelope was also your ticket to view the new movie. I found this one a few years back and keep it in the glovebox of my 39 LZ coupe. Thought this was fitting since this year marks the 80th year and the movie is being shown at selected theaters around the country.

Noise at the front axle
in V12 Lincolns Only

No modifications. They usually get oil soaked then the rubber deteriorates. The one for the Lincoln will carry a 99A- prefix in the part number,it’s the same as Mercury but different than the one used on the Fords. Most any of the early Ford vendors will have it.
