  1. Looking for owners of Ford F-100 Explorer pick-up owners to participate in a special display at the June 4-6, 2010 Carlisle All-Ford Show. Feature trucks to include a 1970 Explorer with less than 50 miles. Invitation is open to any F-100 Explorer in original condition. That includes a blue truck that was in the Green Field at 2009 Hershey. If you know who the owner is, please email me. Intersted owners please send email to: gvongunten@comcast.net:)

  2. Most of the bumper stickers are now sold. Still have the following available:

    1979 (1)

    1997 (2)

    He who hesitates..........................

BTW, I have some bumper stickers from the Carlisle Flea Market, covering most years from 1977 to 1990. Let's face it: without Hershey, there would be no Carlisle. Without Carlisle, my wife would see a heck of a lot more of me.

Same deal- send me an email for pictures of them.

  3. Found at 2009 Hershey meet: Hershey bumper stickers from 1974 to 1997. Most were compliments of CARS & PARTS magazine; some are AACA issue. All are unused and in like-new condition. Make great decoration for your current swap meet vehicle.

Here's the deal: Take your pick for $5 each. Postage is included. All net proceeds will be donated to my favorite charity: The AACA Library.

    Send email to gvongunten@comcast.net

  4. I have 3 Orange field spaces that I would like to trade for 2 or 3 Green field spaces. Of course, this would be done between 2 AACA members and within the rules of the Region. I would like to get closer to the walk-in entrance. My orange field spaces are in ODC; and are arranged wide instead of deep. You get about 80 feet of "road frontage"- enough to park a tractor trailer, or perhaps a large motorhome. The paving is the depth of a standard parking space, but they back up to a nice grassy area that adds even more space. If interested, please email me at: gvongunten@comcast.net

  5. Yes, there are car shows and swap meets after Hershey. This Saturday, October 17, 2009 a swap meet was scheduled for the Maple Grove Raceway near Lancaster, Pa. But Mother Nature thinks otherwise. It has been changed to Halloween- Saturday October 31, 2009. Wear your scariest costume; or just come as you are-if you're pretty scary already. $5 at the gate with free parking.

Also, the Rockville, MD car show has been rescheduled for Saturday October 24, 2009. Admission and parking are free.

    Both events are worth attending.

  6. At first glance, it seems a typical '41 to '46 Chevy/GMC truck fender.......but-

It has the dimensions of a 2.5 ton fender without the "turned back" front inside lip; and it has curious square-punched holes along the wheel openning.

Someone wrote a part number on the fender: 221641C

    Any ideas?????

  7. We went to Canfield for Friday and Saturday. Friday saw about 20% empty spaces but Saturday the thing got filled up beyond anything I've ever seen there. Nice people, reasonable prices- and some really unusual stuff. Sure, the real high dollar NOS stuff gravitates to Ebay, but these flea markets still have great value. We came home with a truck load. They charge $5 for a single day and $7 for the whole 3-day weekend-with free parking. Reminds me of Carlisle in the 1980's. Want a bargain? One guy had a complete grille and shell from a 1940's International (KB) truck for $100. Rust and dent free from the Dakotas.

    Like this one........

  8. Real men, and women- sleep in their pick-ups, suv's, tents, and trailers. We don't need $270/night motel rooms with 4-night minimums. Heck, we don't even need 29-foot motor homes with generators spewing fumes all night. We get up early and get ready for the gates to open for the public. We don't contribute to the traffic mess 'cause we're already there. You'd be surprised to see how many members in their '70's and up do it every year. It's a direct connection to the first Hershey swap meet- and hopefully it will go on for as long as we have some form of fuel to burn. Good chance these are the same folks who restore their own antique cars and always have some grime under their fingernails-even if they work in a proper office on those days we can't be at a swap meet.

  9. I have 2 passes left that are each good for all 4 days. Passes are in the MD-DC area, can be mailed Tuesday for someone on the east coast to attend fri-sat-sun. Passes are free to AACA members, but I ask you make a donation of $20 to the AACA library or museum.

  10. Just got back from Papa John's. The free pizza was great and the reception at the store was very friendly. There were 3 other Camaros there when I arrived. It seems the love for F-body GM cars spans all the generations and social classes. I would think that for the whole country he may spend more on the free pizzas than the 250K he paid to get the car back. And we though we loved our cars!

  11. If you haven't seen the news story about the founder of Papa John's Pizza finding his long-lost 1971 1/2 Camaro............understand ALL Papa John outlets are giving a FREE large pizza to anyone who shows up today (August 26, 2009) in a Camaro- of any year. My '68 and I will take them up on their generous offer later this evening.:)

  12. Best kept secret at Hershey. The swap meet is 33% populated, but many who arrive early price their "treasures" quite low. Seems they want to liquidate on Tuesday and then be free to wander the rest of the week. You'll walk a great distance per space, but it's still fun. Don't let this out.

  13. 6 mpg might be about right for that engine/carb, esp. for driving short trips. I would monitor the oil carefully to make sure the carb is not washing down the cylinders. Just check the level and smell the dip stick for gas. Otherwise, take a longer trip and calculate the mileage carefully- you might get it up to 10mpg. Nobody was too concerned when gas was 38cents a gallon.
