We will have to agree to disagree.  Citing "Bring A Trailer" sales as evidence that your price is correct is apples to oranges, again, in my opinion.    I am not sure where you are marketing the car.  If it is just here, then it may never sell.

Are you telling us the car has been for sale for one year (more or less) and has not sold at $17,500, and now $9,500?  But you believe it is "right" priced?

I would delete this entire thread.  Because you are all but admitting that you were looking for a big pay day at $17,500, to drop it to $9,500.

There have been many many posts on here dismissing cars in similar shape as "just parts cars" because the cost of restoration has eliminated most of the potential buyers.  It's a different world now.

But good luck at $9,500.  I'll look for the "to the top" post in April 2025.

You can advertise it on the Cadillac LaSalle Club forum for free until May 1, when they go to a new format for members only.   That would give it exposure to the club.  And Jason Edge who is a CLC VP is head of the 63/64 chapter for the club and would be glad to help sell it.

So much free advice. It’s not my car. People who own these things develop their own opinions as to value. Once it’s offered for sale, reality determines the sale price. The right person will come along eventually; and the car will pass into the next phase of its life.

  2. For those who remember the swap meet at Charlotte, say prior to Covid, the changes are a bit disappointing. The track ownership has taken much of the area inside the track for other purposes- pushing much of the swap meet vendors into the large fields behind the track. Some vendors were upset when their prepaid fees were not refunded when the event was cancelled during covid. None of this is a reflection on the Region- they do the best they can with the cards they are given.

If you really enjoy the AACA car show, by all means attend. If you are looking for a top notch swap meet for hard core collectors, this may not be your event.

  3. The Leesport event went off this morning with great weather. We arrived at 7:15AM to see the parking lot half full and dozens of spectators already shopping. The parking is far superior to the previous location.
Most of the outside covered spaces were rented, plus a row of vendors outside along the building. There were 4-5 cars for sale. The inside portion is much smaller than the previous arena. We were there about 2 hours and made several nice buys. Looking forward to many more years here.

Next stop is the Chesapeake Region parts meet at the Howard County (MD) Fairgrounds on Saturday March 9.

The Hawk Mountain V8 Ford club used to have a flea market there in April, I think it was moved to May this year. We vended for a few years about 10 years ago and did ok.  We gave it up when we found that no matter how early we got there, other vendors hijacked the tables out of our spaces (each space came with 2-3 large wooden tables).

It looks like their event is Sunday May 21.

  5. At least for renewals, it’s $100. The deadline is looming. What are you waiting for? I dropped mine off at the Hershey Post Office, where the nice lady stamped it “cancelled”- and said she’d put it directly in the Region’s post office box- in the adjoining room. Funny, it seems she’s done that before, lol

  6. Yep. It’s snowing and downright cold outside. While you’re comfy in front of the fireplace- you should be thinking ahead and booking your Hershey room.

The major hotels use some weird logic to set, and change their rates months ahead.

I book on expedia with the right to cancel right up to the event; and you don’t have to pay until you arrive. So acting early costs you nothing.

We like the area along the north side of Harrisburg near Union Deposit Road. Driving north, Union Deposit Road will lead you right to the swap meet exit at the new AACA HQ.

As an example, we like the Country Suites by Raddison. It was $85/ night (plus taxes). Today it’s $92. By September it might be twice that. If you want to spend more, check out the Best Western Premier. It was my favorite, before someone at Corporate jacked the rates.

  7. Interesting discussion, disregarding the “radical” ideas the Region will never want, or be able, to accomplish. I’ve been a vendor for over 20 years and first attended about 45 years ago (ouch!). So I guess I can speak from  some factual basis.

Hershey is a living, breathing thing that changes each year, but somehow remains the same. The years and inflation in our economy mean that costs: spaces, hotel, parking, meals- will continue to rise in cost.

My particular situation might be typical. I started with 2 spaces; and as selling ramped up I picked up a third space nearby. It functions as a parking space for my pickup that tows the trailer that holds the parts. If I had just 2 spaces, there would be less room for sales. NTL, I put out some self-service” parts in that third space- to be respectful of the Region’s rules. As the years ticked by, selling for 4 days supplanted my first love- walking and buying.

So as the space fee has crested $100, I think it’s time to relinquish that third spot, reduce the parts brought for sale to what will fit in the pickup- and leave the trailer home. Yes, I won’t make as much $$$ selling; but I’ll spend more $$$ buying- and probably enjoy myself more.

And so that “extra” space will go back in circulation and hopefully someone younger will start their Hershey adventure. I’ll still be happy continuing mine.

  8. It seems to me that you don’t see the true unusual types at Hershey that used to be more commonplace say, back in the 70’s. You know, they wear the same weird get up each year with some unique headgear.

I do admire the vendors who fill their space with dirty, greasy; but otherwise valuable stuff somebody needs. They cook in their space and sleep in improvised quarters in a pickup truck or small trailer. I am almost embarrassed to retreat to a hotel room each evening.

The fact that more  than a few of these types return each year seems a good sign for our hobby. A faint but resilient pulse.

  9. These books were rescued from a basement after half a century. The condition ranges from fair to poor. We are going to price these very low. They will be here for two weeks- then they are going to be recycled.

The magazines are $1 each. Really.

The service manuals are $3 each. Really.

To each order, please add $1 to offset the packaging. Thanks.

Tell me what you want. Include your name and address. I’ll send them by USPS media mail. You send me back a check or money order for the book(s) and the postage shown. Think of it like the self service parts at Hershey!

But act fast. Two weeks. Promise.

  10. So many opinions. I have used an 8-volt battery in my 1946 gmc since 1997. Years ago, I bugged “Sol”, the Battery Tender guy” at Hershey until he convinced the company to make a new run for 8 volts. I buy them at my local Battery Warehouse and they last 7-9 years ( keeping the BT on 24/7).

We adjusted the voltage regulator to output 10 volts. It has never blown bulbs. Of course, the truck has no radio. It increases the cranking speed and starts the truck much faster. I don’t crank it longer than 15-20 seconds.

No, it’s not for every old 6-volt vehicle. No, it’s not a substitute for a properly tuned electrical system. It’s just better than the original setup.

    The Camaro has a 12-volt battery……
