1. It is still there I think the address changed a little. Go to yahoo and seach " nailhead "
  2. Ken I'd leave the trans in my 56 so I wouldn't have to line the splines at the torque ball up with drive shaft. A real pain.

    56 ignition

My 56 shop manual shows yellow going to #4 on neutral saftey swith and pink going to #4 on starter relay. It looks to me like you can use momentary contact to join pink and yellow and it should only crank with the key on in neutral or park.
  4. So I should scrap my 16 mpg 56 Buick and pay some one to destroy a mountain in West Verginia killing the local streams to get coal they will ship to China, Mexico, Indonesia, etc. leaking oil all the way across the ocean. Then I can get the oil companies to polute the wilderness or support terrorists to make the plastic. Let's see then the parts manufacturers can burn the coal unrestricted by government clean air restrictions to make cart parts that will be shipped to the location of cheapest labor leaking oil all the way. I guess I forgot about the strip mining of iron ore and other metals that will be shipped around the world to cheapest labor market leaking oil all the way. Then I can have a cheap plastic computer controlled piece of junk that no one including the dealer can fix like the last new car I bought that had to be replaced in 3 years starting the proccess all over again. The 11 mpg 86 boat sounds more like the enviromentally frendly choice to me. I'm not getting big campain contributions from people trying to sell new cars though so that may shade my opinions. LOL
  5. Scott
There is a mint original pink and black Roadmaster 4dr ht in Pascagoula, MS. 16,000 original miles and the original paint is still perfect on it except the drool spots I left. I'm trying to get him to bring it to Cruisin the Coast down here in October.
  6. 1956BuickMan
I saw a 56 Century single exhaust car at Cruisin the Coast last year with J tips so they must bolt on single exhaust bumpers. I wonder if you couldn't cut the exhaust holes in your Century single exhaust bumper it looks like what Buick did?
  7. Buick Racer
U DA MAN !!! I've been wanting that diagrahm. What did it come out of? I have 56 shop manual but haven't seen it in there.
  8. Y'all
I was told by a friend who is repairman for company that makes the conveyer systems for U.S.Post Office and UPS that the packages run down a line at 90MPH and are turned by wings. It is the sudden turn that breaks heavy packages. I started shipping models I build in two sections the heavy unbreakable section and the light delicate section packed so they could move in an over sized box and damage stopped. I have recieved boxes from USPO and UPS in perfect condition with the contents broken to pieces.
  9. Yellowlark
Thanks for the lead on windshield I got my body man dealing with them for windshield.
  10. Y'all
Any body delt with Internet Glass Network for glass? I'm thinking of ordering new windshield for my 56 Special from them if I don't hear horror stories. Any advice?
  11. FireballV8
Are the boomarangs different from Special/Century or just the bumpers?
  12. Y'all
The bumper with tips on it is on e-bay right now. Search "56 buick".

    Supper Nut
Most of the 56 322's I've seen have carter WGD 2 barrel ( Specials ), or Carter WCFB 4 barrel ( 50,60,70, series ) I show Stromberg WW 2 barrel as being used on Specials also but haven't seen car with one on it yet. E-mail me at sjmodels@datasync.com if you need a scann of carb in my shop manual. The correct Buick carb will have a start switch on it for 56 any way. Hope this helps
  15. Mark
I hope you're right! My info is Chevy/Pontiac , Olds/40-60 Buick , 50-70 Buick/Cadilac is how glass interchanges.
  16. Y'all
Is there a place to get a replacement for the factory tinted windshield in my 1956 Special 2 dr ht ( 46R ) with the correct green tint? Thanks

    15" Rim Width

Shop manual shows 5.5" on Special and 6" on all others. Tire sizes are 7.10x15 with 7.60x15 optional on Special, 7.60x15 on Century and Super, 8.00x15 on Roadmaster.

    Classic Buicks

Thanks for replies. Buicknut I went to industrial rubber suplier and he gave me enough flat rubber that is oil diesel gas and additive resistant to make three of the seals I need and my Buick is back on the road. I would say if reproduction parts don't hold up to gas oil and freon used today they are inferior quality.

    Mark
You have a point but after attending many car shows I think I'll throw up if I see another small block chevy in a car ( my 65 GMC has one ). I would be more inclined to go with electric fuel pump and more modern carb on 60,000 mile original runs like new 322. 700r4 and open drive shaft rear end might be nice ? For now I'm still keeping it original and looking for source of quality parts. Thanmks for comments though.

    Tomsriv
Poor quality repo parts seems to be a real problem! A defective fuel pump I bought from Buick Specialists just about burned my 56 up today. I had smelled gas yesterday when I drove it and started it in the drive to check it out this morning. Fuel was spraying from fuel pump ( replacement for defective rebuilt 1 1/2 year ago )and it caught fire before I could get car shut off. Luckily my wife was washing her car right next to it and I used the hose on a fine mist to get it out before she got the fire exstinguisher from under the seat. I've noticed that the carb ( rebuilt by me from part Buick specialist supplied ) is squirting fuel from small hole in drivers side when accelerator is depressed also. I ordered new exhaust for the car and the drivers side tail pipe was too long ( I have 56 special and it might be a 56 Roadmaster pipe ? ) I had to go through all kinds of crap to get the guy to send a new shorter pipe. I had cut the first pipe to fit and when I disassembled the rear end to install the replacement pipe it was the same as the original pipe they sent me. I've wanted to keep this factory air car original but all this stuff has me wondering if I should just modify it with parts I can get locally that will run and not need to be replaced constantly. I don't have the same trouble with my 65 GMC hot rod that I use custom parts on? Thanks our51super for the tip on window parts I need to replace most of my door rubber parts and need a good source.
  21. RayD
Coker tire has reproductions and I think Buick World formerly Buick Specialists 1-360-825-3787 has them also. There nice but about $2000.00 for a set of four.
