I am looking into all of my options as I have called about 30 places and received quotes ranging from 625 to 1650. sooo....I'll be beating my head on the desk figuring all this out.
Thanks for your help guys!

Thanks all...
I have thought about flying out and driving it back, but I really don't want to make the drive by myself. I think I have found a good company - Automotive Transport, Inc. Has anyone heard of these folks?

I hate the drone...my gf doesnt like it either. I wonder if there are good exhausts out there that can eliminate this. Anyone got an idea?

It would be nice to see a list of them so we can buy them!

I figure that number will become more tame as the regulars start to register their names. That's quite a jump in numbers though!

That can also be related to the amount of rust free 70's GM hardtops and sedans - specifically in the rear window and trunk/quarter areas.

I'm just curious about the numbers for how many new registered names there have been due to the "no anonymous posters" rule in the last week (or dew days). I bet it's quite a jump! I've seen lots of New Members with just one or 2 posts since then...

this car must be found, and it must be mine <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I've thought about that but I don;t want to let the seller of the car make the decision and go cheapo on a top...it also needs frame work for the top to be put on.
I got a quote for $625 today for open transport...I just need to find a way to weatherproof the top.

Does anyone know a good CHEAP way to get a big Buick from San Diego to St. Louis? All the quotes I've gotten are for over $1000. The convertible top is trashed so I don't feel comfortable flying out there and driving it back.
Any suggestions?

sounds good Brian
BTW - a while back you posted production numbers on the 71 Centurion convertibles...what were they?? I vaguely remember a pretty low number.
Thanks

a factory 400hp 400ft/tq V6 is a pretty mean machine. That puts my LeSabre 350 to shame <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
I wonder if it really feels like 400 horses though...time for a test drive!

I'd love to see a picture of one of these oddities:)
I have a good idea of what one may look like in my mind, but I really have no idea.

Bill,
Roberta just took that from the press release she provided in her post...I agree with you though <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
The aztek influence is definitely apparent here...let's not do that again.

I had NO idea that's what they were...no wonder I've never seen one.
Thanks for your replies!

Could someone explain what this is exactly? Maybe a picture if possible...
There are so many different steering wheel options on these early 70's cars that I can't keep track.
Thanks,

Looks real good...I took the liberty of resizing the photo you sent me and I am posting it for all to see.
It's still a little large, but at least we can see it <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Bill,
Sounds like a great car! Where are you located? Can we/I see some pictures?
Post them here or send them to my email--

I'm not necessarily speaking for myself when I say this, but I think you get more respect and response if people know who you are...you become one of our friends.

It doesn't take 2 minutes to register for this forum. If it was insane like some other sites I would be concerned...but to me this was a very easy thing to do and it was instant. Even the V8buick site was a little more problematic than I would have wanted. With the confirmations through email and all that. I like the changes.
If you want to ask a question and get professional answers from people who really know their sh*t, then it is worth the time to register. That's why I'm here...to learn and grow my knowledge of the cars I love - Buicks.

This is becoming quite the head scratcher. What kind of carb are you running?

here here! I had a guy rip my head off for criticizing the paint job of a car in a particular lot in Staunton, IL. Some of you might know which lot that is. Funny thing is, I bet he was the one that was responsible for the ridiculous price tag. His post was Anonymous. If you have the guts to say something bad, then take credit for it.

Hey John,
I talked to Al and he said he would/try to get the frame fixed for me before I got it. I had originally made room in my budget for a top and window, not the frame. I asked him if he would just replace the whole thing and he sh*t a brick. So, he's doing what he can to make it transportable, maybe even driveable out to St. Louis. All I need is a buddy to tag along. I may have to bribe someone to go. It would definitely be a fun trip, I just don't want to do it by myself.
If you're willing, I might take you up on driving the car out for me <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> as long as I don't have to shell out $1600. I figure gas will cost me about $350, and hotels for 3 nights maximum are $300. I wouldnt be staying in any 6 star hotels. Food $50. $700 total cost I guess. I guess you have to have a way of getting back too.
Argh...Al said he'd get back with me regarding the top frame tomorrow or thursday, so we'll see what he has to say. That frame would cost me an @ss load to replace. If I can get him to do that, I'd be happy, and it would be driveable.
