  1. I always use brass/marine freeze plugs.
  2. Just have to be careful to get the TQ all the way in so that the pump works. Have not done myself but remember something about three clicks ?
  3. Agree, there is rare and then there is desirable. OTOH back in the day I special ordered a few GM cars that were green with a saddle interior. Know at least one was the only one built that way.
  4. Of course if counting everything, my Judge is one of one.
  5. Have never had an issue with the phone being asleep (screen is off but still fully functional).
  6. Barney Eaton repairs antennas but does not need to be up for an inside transmitter to work. If your lighter is on 24/7, you need a BT device with an on/off switch. I like Nulaxy BT devices, this one is very versatile. Have to remove the radio (easy) and disassemble (is modular) to get tape out. Alternative: replace your radio with a single DIN BT radio and a DIN and a half mount.
  7. And 16x7 GM Pontiac snowflakes were common and have "ABS" hubcaps.
  8. Need to check for head leaks. That can empty your wallet. 93 with the one year only hardtop is rare. Other than the Northstar is the easiest year to work on.
  9. MT, mine was an 90 SE with NA 3800, never cared for boost under 10,000 feet. Except on a diesel.
  10. I suspect it had more to do with the tire size. Mine always had 225/60r16. Never heard of a shake problem in an Allante. Mustabin a harmonic.
  11. I always liked a dark green with saddle interior, special ordered a few back in the day. Now are all red, white, or blue.
  12. One nice thing about both the Reatta and the Allante is both have on board diagnostics with readout in the displays.
  13. and the resistor is to make the DIC happy.
  14. Starting in 1989 Allantes had Speed Sensitive Damping (active suspension) for 1993 A Lot changed and it became Road Sensing Suspension See 1993 FSM section 3G2.
  15. ANFSCD does anyone know if the early Allante (before active) front strut is the same as a Reatta ?
  16. and I was once told that "overhead valves used oil" and "heavier cars are safer".
  17. BTW ob Reatta. For some unknown reason the Allante was about the only premium GM car that did not come with an RKE. The 89-up Reatta/other Buick/other Cadillac trunk unit should work and turn off the anti-theft. Just make sure to also get the trunk to dash harness. I always liked the Cadillac fob with shaped buttons better than the Buick one.
  18. What to look for is a V4J in the SPI sticker, began with VIN 126341. Did this car come from the Tampa area ?
  19. I remember rebuilding my sunroof with a Mazda unit long long ago. Have two of each, 89 Allante and 88 Reatta. Put a Reatta wheel in the nice Allante. Hope you checked the Northstar very carefully for leaks, 90% are great, 10% are money pits (head studs pull out). ps 93s with hardtops are very rare as is the green colour. Was it stock (is in the VIN code) ?
  20. Not sure what your point is ? Several earlier Buicks had the same wheels so were in the inventory. Even the Fiero GT had 7" wheels. BTW my 1990 Bonneville was not that big. Same 3800 drivetrain and less than 200 lbs more than the Reatta. New had 16x7 Crosslaced (similar to snowflakes) wheels.
  21. Never noticed any shake in my '90 verts and had both Aftermarket (Enkei) and factory (Pontiac) 16x7s with 225x60r16s either BFG or Michelins on all. Never had a 91.
  22. I have had a whole bunch of Reattae including three 'verts. Still have my original 88 sunroof and a 90 parts car. Major issue for me was the lack of power (89 Allante cures). And no hardtop. Do think both would have been better with more commonality/simplicity. Kids are fascinated by the touchscream in my Reatta. ps folding tops are very similar except the Reatta has a metal tonneau cover while the Allante is plastic. This makes the locking mechanism much simple in the Reatta.
  23. Was told it was a stretch of I-75 in Western Florida. I remember that stretch being crowed with signs for shops doing wheel balancing and alignment.
  24. Remember something about a number of cars (61 ?) that when tested were found to have too much cowl shake to be sold.
