1. In a similar subject,
our friends kid has an mid 70's pickup truck that he drives. To make it different and unique he put a set of Longhorn horns (horns from a cow, not a car horn, they are about 6 ft wide) on the hood.
He came out the other morning and some mmmoron had cut the hood away to get the horns. Now he has to replace the hood and the horns.
Just goes to show that if you have something somebody else want, they will take it.
Sorry about your car Martinsr.
Bill
2. John,
I have had real good luck with my 3/4 ton Dodge Pickup with the Cummings Disel engine.
I tow a tractor and a car hauler all over the south with this rig and have not had a problem. I also haul my 47 Buick which weighs about 4,200 lbs with this.
Both my wife and I drive Dodge pickups and love them.
Bill
 3. I have been reading about the tour in Popular mecahnics website because they feature a Buick from America.
I am glad to have another link.
Thanks
Bill

Hopefully this tendency will help me in restoring this car.
I had to rent a garage from a friend and before I could even get in it I have to seel a bunch of old Willy and Jeep parts. What ever convinced this guy that he needed 9 4 cyl. flathead blocks ?
I have mad note of all the GREAT ideas that you all have given me. I have some pictures of the car that I am getting scanned and once the car makes it down from Billings, I will update you all on the progress.
Rick, where did you get that body book ??
Bill
6. HV,
I don't fault AACA, I realize it is nobody stepping up to the plate down in this part of the woods.
I guess if we are ever going to get one, sombody is going to have to take the job on.
Maybe a little politicing is in order.
Bill
 7. Mark,
I have been to Pete's a couple of times but never for an engine. LAst time was for a manifold and I didn't talk to anyone but him so you must be mistaken.
I am going to try Allied Powdrcoating in Houston, I have seen some of their work and they do a good job.
I will E-mail the number when I find it.
Would like to see how you are doing on your 58.
Bill
 8. Why is there not a meet in the Southwestern part of the country ?
I hate driving 1000 miles to show a car.
Some in Texas or close by would be nice.
Bill
 9. I want to Powdercoat the frame of my 50 Buick. I will use the correct color of black.
Is this going to cause deductions ? Should I use the correct paint instead ?
 10. So you know,
It is a 1950 Buick Estate Wagon. It has a Straight 8 and a Dynaflow.
The Buick Estate Wagons are part metal and Part wood.
I have done a bunch of work on old Buicks in my life but this will be the first frame off restoration and the first Estate Wagon for me. I am planning on a 3 -6 year project. Money, I dont want to know yet.
I will keep track of all through Pictures, books, labeling and organization. Nothing worse than pulling up a bunch of bolts and wondering what they are for.
The fun sounds like it has just begun.
Bill
11. Hi,
Now that I have a car that is worthy of spending time, effort and money on a frame off restoration I was wondering where I start.
Are there any good resources (books, web sites, magazines) that you all can recomend ?
Are there any things I need to know up front before starting this long and laborious job ?
Thanks
Bill
12. If you can read the body plate Bob's Automobilia can help you with the colors that your car should be. He has color samples and the Dupont mixing formulas for your Buick.
Here is a link that will tell you how to read your VIN plate along with a good source for parts. http://www.fantasyautoworks.com/bu_data.htm
Sounds like you are doing some major work to your Buick.
Have fun, I enjoy my 3 Buicks.
BTW If you find another Roadmaster like yours, I am looking for one to restore.
[This message has been edited by Bill Stoneberg (edited 06-04-2000).]
 13. Asked this question in the Buick forum, also thought I would try here for another group of opinions.....
I have found a 49 Buick Super that is still in original(not restored) condition. Its actually pretty clean and the paint is still real nice. Drives seat is showing some wear but it look better than the Tortise (Taurus) i drive everyday.
How do you judge originality vs restoration ?
Just wondering and also wondering how much work I should or could put into this car.
I know what it would take to get a senior if it was a restoration but not sure on an original.
Thanks
Bill

 15. Ron,
I have Vintage air on all my old buicks and the Monster Cooler kept my 48 Wagon so cold I could hang meat in it.
They make a good product and they back it up.
I am going on Americruise in my 47 with them in July if I can get the temp down in it.
Get their catalog, well worth the 5 bucks. You will learn all you ever wanted to know about A/C.
BTW, the do lots of other cars beside streetrods.
Bill
