  1. FYI, I found a gent in Union New Jersey named Mr. Kris who overhauls autronic eyes. There is a post under AACA Tech Discussion with his POC info.
  2. FYI all of us Cadillac owners with gold plated badges, I found a gent in western Virginia who will do both of my V's for $80. His name is Dave Jenkins, and if anyone needs a phone number.

    AUTRONIC EYE

Many thanks Dave. I will contact him.

    AUTRONIC EYE

i hope I didn't already ask about this, but does anyone know a place that resotres autronic eyes for Cadillacs??
  5. Moepar, Thank you for the tip. I will call him.
  6. It makes sense to do it if the clubs are to survive. I am not a fan of modified cars, but they are interesting and have a place out there as long as stock cars aren't competing against them, which does happen already. Look at it as a bridge that brings in new members who are then exposed to classic cars. Many AACA members started as high school hot-rodders, and now drive Model A's. You never know. Best of luck. Stay with the board please, there aren't enough Cadillac resources for us new guys to ask questions of!!!!!
  7. Where does one go to have emblems gold-washed? I have the hood and trunk "V"s from my 56 Cadillac, and I need to have the finish on them redone. Any suggestions?
  8. Where does one go to have badges/Vs gold-washed? I have the hood and trunk "V"s from my 56 Cadillac, and I need to have the finish on them redone. Any suggestions?
  9. Carl and Ron, Thank you for the assist. Great photo Carl, it really helps. I found a paper filter at Coopers Vintage Auto, but I will hang onto the Baldwin address in case. Thanks again!
  10. I am overhauling my Rochester 4bbl carburetor for my 56 Cadillac 365 cu in engine. Does anyone know what kind of fuel filter it takes? I have a sight glass but there was no filter in there...or should there be a filter in there? Any assistance with similar 50s carbs would be appreciated.
  11. Quite a beauty! It's in great shape. My 56 sat for 30 years, so I am in the midst of restoration. We "lived" through the replacement of those heater hoses. I still have the AC to do (OI!). I liked how the car was double-parked at Ryans Steak House. A very wise idea. A fun car to drive, as you said, it is an eye-popper!
  12. Welcome Andy. It's a great forum with lots of helpful car lovers who have suffered a similar fate...fell for a Buick beauty.
  13. I got all of my engine parts from Mr. Cooper in Burbank. His prices were very reasonable and he was great to talk to about problems and always had recommendations for me. His 1958 catalog lists 5 possibilities. It may be worthwhile to give him or someone a call to check on it. His link is: Coopers Vintage and he phone is (818) 567-4140.
  14. I found a plastic adhering paint, and was able to bring the holder back to gray. Thanks again to all for the support. I had heard of body-color badge holders as well. I think that in the design book/brochure, the "artist renderings" showed a Wildcat or GS with a body colored badge. Perhaps that's where they got the idea from?
  15. Sloooooowly I am getting all of the electric-run parts restored. I just got my electric antenna back from North Carolina. The gentleman worked for GM making these, and this is his retired keep-busy work. He is excellent, and advertises in Hemmings. I have been trying to get my air-conditioning accelerator piece for the carburetor, but am having a lot of trouble finding one. Next up: the autronic eye (yikes....an expensive repair is looming, I can tell!).
  16. I had a driver's door control panel rechromed and I can't use it in my Electra because I have electric door locks. It has openings for the 4-switch window control, and the electric seat switch. It was beautifully done. If anyone needs this piece, drop me an email: jaxops@bellatlantic.net and I can email you photos. I also have: -Full set of four 69-70 LeSabre Used (VG) wheelcovers -60-70 Electra round red quarter lights -Several sets of inside chrome door handles for 69-70 Buicks (not door pulls)
  17. The Sunday idea is a great idea. Getting into an accident with a classic is no fun, and sets you back so far....and you may never get it fixed the way it should be again. I never thought that I was old-fashioned, but I use my turn signals even on deserted roads at 0400 in the morning. Both daughters, if they desire to continue to drive, so far, do the same. I taught both in the 70 Buick and the 89 Ford. It's harder to zip around with that size of a car! Stay safe, keep "training" the idjits, they will either learn or pay the ticket (or worse).

    Chrome work

For bumpers: For my Buick I used Tri-Plating in Minnesota or Wisconsin. They were great if they are still around. For my Cadillac, I just got my bumpers back from Tennesee. It was through American Classics & Hot Rods in Norfolk so I don't have their name handy. For interior chrome I used Bob Waller in New Hampshire, and he was expensive, and slow, but did fantastic work once you got it back. You can't be on a schedule with him. For my Cadillac exterior trim I used a local fellow in Norfolk who spent hours pounding out barely visibile dents, also a subcontractor to American Classics and Hot Rods in Norfolk.
  19. Many thanks. I know that mine was gray but I didn't know if was supposed to be, and I wanted to be sure before I start putting paint to my expensive repro piece. Thank you both for the replies.
  20. I finally broke down and bought an Emblemagic badge holder for my trishield badge. It fits the NOS badge perfectly by the way, so no need for the repro badge if yours is in good shape. My question is, it came in black. My original one on the car that disintegrated into dist 27 years ago, was gray. Should it be gray or black? My 70 Electra dealers book has only drawings and no photos in it. Thanks in advanc for the assist.
  21. I came across a GS Muscle car parts provider who had a hard to find Buick day/nite maplight mirror for sale. He told me the price, and then proceeded to yell at me on the phone about how much that amount meant to me. You have all, I am sure, come across some of these high handed characters, but I suppose he didn't need my money that badly if he treats his customers that way! Luckily for me, this is a rare instance. Most of the parts people I have spoken with over the years are friendly and generally helpful even if they don't have the part. But when you run into the bad ones, they are really bad!
  22. Many thanks. I appreciate the information and I will check it out but probably take it in and have a thorough ground check.
  23. I have seen them as well. I never had to replace them, but I have seen plenty of ratty-caddies that have a "floating bumper" following the car when the fillers rotted away. The front and rear fillers are supposed to be pliable (when these cars were new). They certainly were not fiberglass but some kind of plastic (like modern so-called bumpers are). The trick is painting them of course. There are a number of resources out there that offer these parts. Good luck.
  24. I have to concur with the group. My 70 Electra is and came orginally flat black as well. The trunk is body coloir though.
  25. Classics Buicks in Chino, CA are good, but they don't always have the right part, even when they insist that it is correct. I haven't found any other sources for window switches.
