  3. Ahhh, very interesting site. Do they have a forum ? Can't find it there. Well, actually Opel is known for smaller to midsize cars. They had nice cars in the 30s like the 1,8 Liter 6 Cylinder. But hey had also luxury cars at the end of the 30s like the "Admiral" with a larger 6 cylinder. This engine was actually a Chevrolet engine. At the end of the 60s, beginning 70s there was the last V 8 Opel, the Diplomat. It had the 327 Chevy engine with hydraulic valve lifters. The Diplomat A had the 286 Chevy engine. But the real big Opel was the Regent. Regards Tom
  4. Hello you all. I am still trying to find out if there is one car left of the 1928 Opel Regent 24/110. It was a large 8 Zylinder car with 110 HP. See a photo here : http://www.graf-vlad.de/regent.html The story says that Opel had to buy all 25 cars back from the owners since Opel became a GM divison in 1928 and Cadillac was afraid to sell less cars when the Regent is on the market. Who knows more about this history of the Regent ? Regards Tom

    Road Speed

Hi Dave, a stock Model A should run max ca. 62 mph. It should be possible to make it faster with an overdrive, Brumfield head and so on. But : There is a risk to drive it faster as it actually was. Your father should think about the brakes, suspension and so on. And : The engine is not good for a long time maximum speed driving. It has just 3 main bearings. We drive our Model As not faster that max 50 mph. Our Roadster runs near 60 mph but we don't like this driving speed. Around 45 is nice. Kind regards Tom

  14. Hello ! Thanks for your answers. As I wrote the question ( in 1999 ) I thought that there are just 20 cars around but in the meantime I know that there are more around as the roster of the HCCA shows aince I had contact with owners of a 1912 which were not members of the HCCA. Kind regards Tom
  15. Hi ! From my girlfriend I got a great book : Those wonderful old automobiles by Floyd Clymer. It is from 1953 and there are a lot of photos, facts, jokes, cartoons, ads and much more in it about the cars in USA up to the 30s. Also a calendar with old Cadillac car ads from the 50s. All "glamour" ads... Regrads Tom

  17. Hello you all. Thanks for the kind greetings and nice that you still know me. Well, furniture business is a hard business these days. But Maddy and me we are ok, have still fun driving Betsy and Mary ( 1955 Buick and 1912 Cadillac ). But the Cadillac has still ignition problems, I need a new rotor and cap. Some of my fathers cars are now not running but I had no time to repair them. We have just Sundays as freetime and no holidays. We will work on it to get more time for the hobby like my father. He has no longer his store and have now more time with his 61 years to drive old cars. Kind regards Tom
  18. Hello you all ! I don't know if someone will remember me... but just would like to say "hello" and that I am still in the old car hobby but I am very short in time since I own a large furniture store. This takes a lot of time. My girlfriend Madeleine (Maddy Olds) is since some days also around here. I missed Hershey again... no time. Hope to make it next year or in 2005. Many greetings from Germany Tom
