  1. I had the inquiry about heater motor cleaning and lubrication and your post was very helpful. Thanks for your reply, Leif "Buick looks fine for 39"
  2. The vin plate was intended for tracking the car during the assembly process. For years in was attached to various areas on the body and contained the body style, paint code, accessory code, and upholstery code. In addition there was an id number which a tracking number for the car during the assembly process. The engine number and frame serial number were independent and different from the vin plate number.
  3. Any thoughts on the best lubricant for the felt washer seals in a 6 volt heater motor? Also any suggestions for a substance to clean the windings and commutator. In the good old days I would have used carbon tetrachloride but there might be something better and less toxic. The motor is in great condition just dirty and the felt washers are dry. Thanks
  4. I just registered for the forum today. Are you still looking for standard running board moldings for a 39 Century? I have a pair approximately 74 plus inches and I am fairly confident they are Century but unfortunately they are rough. I think they can be repaired but somebody really has to know what they're doing. Hope this helps Leif
